Jonjoe has shown us absolutely nothing going forward, playing Coleman right wing would make more sense in my mind and even then we shouldn't be rushing him back.

Siggy at no10, as in the only position he's played well in for us and contributed to our attacking play. He is wasted on the left for example, regardless of whether he can 'do a job there'.
I agree I wouldn't play JJ (or Seamus for that matter) as a winger. But I think you're being a bit unfair on JJ if you're assuming/insinuating that he is not capable of playing attacking football. If you followed him for the U23s or at International level you would know that bombing forward is a big part of his game.

He's come in to an underperforming team and done very well on the whole, mainly defensively. Initially he was making forward runs that our dysfunctional midfield weren't spotting, and often possession was turned over with JJ out of position. He either learned very quickly that he needed to put defence first, or he was following orders, but there's no doubt that the lad's adventurous tendencies have been curtailed.

But he has the makings of a fine all round FB and long term replacement for Seamus (if we can keep both of them happy that is). But both need to play as FBs or WBs.

I always got the impression when we signed Vlasic that his natural/prefered position wasn't as a winger, but more of a number 10, through the middle.
I think he's capable of playing there with his skill set, in the same way that Dowell is. But I think you need to look at the balance of players we have at the moment and where they fit into the team experience wise.

The No10/CAM role is one if the most important on the pitch and most players don't become effective in this role until their mid 20s at the earliest. Given that we have players of the calibre of Rooney and Siggy (and possibly Klaassen too), and the quality they bring in front of goal, I believe they should be rotating that role. Players like Vlasic, Dowell and Lookman have tremendous potential, but for me they should continue learning their trade as back up wide men for the moment. Once they have more game time under their belt we can have them starting more games and maybe trying them out in the middle during matches too. It's all about playing your best players in their best positions for the senior guys and development through game time for the youngsters.

....not really getting all of this ferver over a LB. Allardyce has come in and made us better defensively but we remain poor as an attacking force. The priority was to bolster those areas of the pitch. The squad is too big, the squad is unbalanced so players will need to move on.

We need a permanent replacement for Baines, he seems brittle and hasn’t got the agility he once had. It’s a tough league for little fellas. Regardless, there’s 5 months of the season left and we are managing without him. Martina is a stop gap but we are managing. Galloway might return, Garbutt might be registered depending on the prognosis for Baines but if either are introduced they’ll almost certainly be behind Martina in the queue.

This squad needs an overhaul, players will have to leave. I suspect we’ll all have to put up with Martina for a few more months or at least until Baines is fit.
Think the argument is Eggs that he makes us very unbalanced as a team which has a knock on effect on our offensive play. He won't use his left foot and because of this is reluctant to push forward. There is therefore no out ball to the left hand side and teams play on this. They also know he is suspect defensively and play on this too so CBs and DMs are attracted to the left hand side.

I agree with what you say but either Galloway or Garbutt need to be given a start at some stage. Personally I'd play them ahead of Martina, but the guy needs a rest at least.

105/110 m lad in January with only 15 m in so far and perhaps 20/25 more if we are lucky
Don’t think so

Tosun was less than 20 up front, Walcott we are bidding about 18-20m? Shaw won't go for much more than 20 up front then addons on top etc, Dendonker or the french lad - both around the 15-20m mark.

So far what we've spent (19.8m) has basically been covered by Barkley being sold and the loan fee for Mirallas and the couple of academy lads we have let go.

Niasse will go for 13m or so, which not far off covers the fee for Walcott, say throw in Besic going and that's almost balanced out.

Buy Shaw - thats about a 20-25 mil net spend if no one else leaves at all
