5m is nothing these days. Play him 10 odd games and his value will automatically rise to 10-20m. See Holgate, easily worth above 10m now.

That’s how the transfer market works these days.

..absolutely. Problem is we’re really over stocked in the CB department, so surely some will have to move before others come in.

No manager can do better? That’s equivalent to saying sam is the best manager in the world!

And I haven’t go on about playing Martina and Schneiderlin.

Can our tactics and player selection improve our game play and hence make the team collect more points with more efficient Football? Of cos we can. Saying we can’t also means big Sam is doing everything perfect at the moment. Clearly not.

Ps: I’ve just realise I’m in the transfer thread. Can’t blame me for going off thread when there’s not much transfer rumour to discuss. Can’t even find any twitter link the past few days
Allardyce was the only manager with any real experience of working with a team in our position who was remotely interested in taking us on.He took a team with the worst defence, no recognised LB and.the most unbalance midfield in the division. Is he to blame for everything that Koeman did before he arrived?

And yet that team wasn't 20th in the league, it was 13th.

So we have a player at LB ,that's worse than any player in the prem, and Chelsea have a player that can pay LB, and he's available on loan, but we stay with Marina,
OK mate x

We're not getting a left back are we?

200.webp

Each to their own mate.

But you can say that West Ham were in exactly the same situation and Moyes seems to have galvanised them, same with Hodgson at Palace. ( I`m not advocating either of them by the way ).

I do agree that the club is a mess, from top to bottom, but Allardyce was a pure panic appointment and really shouldn`t be near Everton FC in any capacity, let alone managing us. ( I`m being polite now, as you seem like a reasonable person )
True... but after four or five games you could have said that Sam galvanised Everton as well.

I know it seems as if I am defending Sam Allyrdyce a lot and it isn't because I think he is a won derful manager.

But, for the mess we are in I do think he is the right manager.
I do think he is underrated and may prove to be better than expected. I think the criticism that he is getting is because certain people don't like him and were never ever prepared to give him a chance and that is neither fair nor right.

Mostly , I am defending him because he is being slaughtered for a mess he didn't create and a situation that I don't believe any manager could do much better with.

I just want us to limp through to the summer in a respectable position and regroup them.

Ironically I do believe that if the gaps were plugged properly this squad of players are capable of much better...I don't know if that will be with Sam but I expect it will.

Agree with most of that but, don't think Gylfi can do that role, he's a player that affects the game further up the pitch. Rooney, on the other hand, we were told by Allardyce that it was his best position and has hardly played him there since.

Could Garbutt be impressing in training ?

The previous manager not including him in the squad of 25 when you look at some of the names in it and no alternative at left back was bizarre and Niassesque in the way he was treated.

Other thing I'm thinking, if the PSV director has any substance, and coming out if nowhere about two days after silva became available, throw in the odd story about Sandro now having a future and not being available to leave, is it a signal maybe the owner is putting the brakes on any transfer activity in and out until certain changes are made, most likely at seasons end?

Also will add the Lennon thing hitting a snag around that time before going ahead after a delay, which could have been it needing to be ran past certain new people for there okay on it...
