Whatever way it's contextualised the point remains that we have a DoF telling us that, if we have a position that needs strengthening, we can do that only by ridding ourselves of a player. At the very least that places a time problem to get deals done - I wonder now whether the lack of striker this summer was down to not getting shut of Niasse in particular. We certainly cant operate like that and expect to land targets promptly. The more alarming part of yesterday's statement is the likelihood that the taps are now turned off. That now the major outgoing sales that have funded the player buying spree of recent seasons have dried up and are no more, then we have a situation where the manager's told: "there's your assets out there in blue jerseys. You choose who to sell and then you tell me who you want to replace them". That can seriously hamper any restructuring of the squad that's required....I think there is, Dave. In the Kenwright years ‘sell to buy’ was indicative of a financial hand-to-mouth existence, in that we had to sell to raise monies to buy. When Moshiri came in there were many posters on here suggesting that situation hadn’t changed but despite monies secured from Lukaku and Stones, Transfer windows in this era demonstrate we are not living a hand-to-mouth existence.
Brands comments regarding one out, one in, are not about raising cash for transfers. They are about good housekeeping and not having an unweildy number of players to work with.
Fingers crossed. Really should be adding James McCarthy to that list, but he's undoubtedly injured once again and thus nobody will touch him. Thankfully Jagielka will be off end of season (out of contract), same as Williams, and let's hope we can find takers for Mirallas and Besic and that absolute cart Bolasie. That would be 9 gone, and Stekelenberg needs punting too, so 10.if he said that i think deals for them are already lined up....
I think, as with a lot of things, there is a massive difference between what is being said in the media and what goes on behind closed doors.Whatever way it's contextualised the point remains that we have a DoF telling us that, if we have a position that needs strengthening, we can do that only by ridding ourselves of a player. For me, we need in January/summer a good GK to vie for the no.1 shirt, a RB of quality to come in and be a starter, a LB deputy for Digne, if Gomes is going back we need to spend big for a creative midfielder, a right winger and an attacker. What Brands has said wont address that type of restructuring that we require; it'll make it almost impossible.
So he's lying when he says one in one out?I think, as with a lot of things, there is a massive difference between what is being said in the media and what goes on behind closed doors.
It amazes me that this point is lost on people so often.

We are going to need songs rhyming Isco with disco IMMEDIATELY
