January 2019 Transfer Window

I just can't bring myself to care right now. Sell one, sell them all. I'm nea. I can't even manage to be angry with them. The quicker this window closes the better, and the season along with it. Utter shysters. If Gueye goes, he goes. Wouldn't be my first choice out of the door, but I'd have no problem with him going either. Hopefully someone lined up to replace that has a bit of fire in their belly, but I really wouldn't bank on that either.
That sums up how I feel. Having a demotivated fan base is a very worrying step towards doing a Villa.

I wasn't asking for much this season. Show some progress, and bed in new players and play a nice attacking style and show that we were going in the right direction. I do hope for the sake of all of us, that this slump at the club is just a birthing pain of a prolonged period of improvement and eventual success. It's a worry though, and how Silva will get if he and the players don't turn this around.

.....just 3 more of these summaries means the January transfer window is drawing to a close. A little bit more Toffee transfer gossip in the press this Monday morning;

- Sky Sports, The Daily Mail and other outlets report PSG have made an opening offer of £21.5m for midfielder Idrissa Gueye but Everton are likely to reject it. It is understood the 29 year old is keen on the move.

- According to Tellefort, PSG have proposed an exchange deal, swapping 27 year old Belgian right back Thomas Meunier for Gueye.

- TeamTalk website suggest Everton winger, Yannick Bolasie, has told Marco Silva he wants to move to a Premier League club this month. The Express say Newcastle Manager, Rafael Benitez, wants Bolasie.

- TeamTalk also link Everton and Newcastle with Guingamp striker, Marcus Thuram. The 21 year old has scored 7 goals in 18 games this season.

- Le10 Sport continue to report Everton interest in Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Labotka, who could be available for £26m despite having a £45m release clause in his contract.

- The Star suggest Everton are willing to lose £7m on striker Cenk Tosun and have made him available for £20m.
So Bolasie and Tosun to spearhead the attack for the last part of the season. That's a top 17 attack right there at least.

I like that Meunièr lad, was very impressed with him at the World Cup.

Hopefully we can get him in the summer - or where possible a decent alternative to provide Coleman with proper competition.

The idea of swapping Gana for him now makes no sense though. He’d be on better wages than Gana and additionally leave us way too short for midfielders.

everything Brands has done so far has been good moves on paper! i have no doubt that if we enter the market Brands will work his magic again, whether or not we participate in the market is another story.

Risible offers. PSG the cheapskates need legging until they make an offer we can’t refuse.

Do they have any midfielders who would be pushed down the pecking order with Gana joining them?
Going off FIFA and 2 games against Liverpool in the CL - no

They've got Rabiot who's training with the reserves and is off in the summer, Verratti, Nkunku a young lad and Paredes who's just come in

Joint richest club in the entire world with infinite wealth (they make fake contracts to allow them to get round FFP) - of course until Everton are the team they want to buy from and they suddenly decide to play by the rules and spent what they are allowed to. Everton that!

Gueye should be sold to any club who comes in with 25m pounds, apart from if it's PSG or City, then it should be at least an extra 10m on top of that just because of who they are. If they don't like it, shop elsewhere.

We don't need any more players. We have far too many cowards as it is. I want a cull down to 18 players before we recruit anyone. End this shambles of recruiting no marks for a lay day.

I posted this earlier in the Gana thread

Selll
Play McCarthy till the summmer to prove his fitness then sell him
Sell everyone in the summer bar
Pickford ( unless someone offers 60 m then sell , which they won’t offer )
Coleman as back up
Mina
Keane
Holgate
Baines 1 yr as back up
Ricarlison
Siggy as back up because no one will pay enough
Bernard
Lookman unless we get 30 m off Leipzig
Vlasic ( unless someone offers 25m)
Henry ( see above )
DCL
Virginia
Sell the rest , under 23s and all and let Brands hit the reset button and totally reshape the squad
A bit Zatlike I know but I’m sick of watching this crowd of spineless unimaginative dross playing football for Everton
I’d only sign Gomes if he improves over the rest of the season

Meunier is very good, can’t recall him playing badly when I’ve seen him although I must have been fortunate to see him when he’s played against poor opposition.

Hopefully if Gana does leave we take some decent talent to replace him with along with money.

We've only wasted this window from a selling perspective. There's absolutely no way we should be shelling out January premiums on panic buys. We have about 15 too many players as it is. Signing more players is the sort of thing only Steve Walsh would do.

That’s what I meant Tim.

Huge ask to shift 12 players or so and sign 6/7

We do need a striker but for me it is our midfield which is the weakest part of our team. That midfield for me is Gueye, Gomes and Sigurdsson who have played together far more than any other combination and they seem to be getting progressively worse with each game.
Without being brilliant we do offer a reasonable attacking threat in Walcott, Richarlison, Lookman and Bernard.. they have pace and a good deal of creativity, add a striker and I think they could be formidable.

The defence has been poor but a defence is reliant on the cover given by the midfield in front of it and that has largely been non existent.

At this point I would accept McCarthy and Schneiderlin being given a run in the team on the basis that they can hardly be any worse than what is already there.
