Still just over a week to go, but noticeable how quiet the rumour mill has gone
I'd much rather get the right players in than buy for the sake of buying in January, so if our business is now all done for January, then fair enough, but I wonder how many will be flipping their lids next week if this is the case?
I'm not sure, unlike the summer expectations have been fairly modest from most fans.
If our business is done, as you say fair enough, if they can't manage to sign any other targets. I can understand and accept why that is the case in January.
Our position in the league, upturn in form recently, and emergence of Davies in particular will probably all weigh against more signings in what is already a fairly stagnant market. I'm sure they'll do another deal or two if it is right for the club and everything is in place. Wouldn't mind another few being shipped out too, even if we don't sign anymore.
I do expect that they will be more bullish and aggressive in the summer though. We'll need at least another four, I think six.
If there is a stash of money left unspent, it will be our 3rd window under Moshiri and I think then that it's a case of now or never as regards spending it.
We need to be ready to do business at the start of July, perhaps even earlier in some cases. There is no World Cup/Euros, no new manager and DoF, and surely all of Walsh's scouting and analysis will bear more fruit then?
If we don't spend sufficient money in the summer and are heading into TDD in August still looking for more than a couple of players, it will not bode well. But that is for the summer.
