Put yourself in his shoes. He can take a big lump in signing on fees now, plus an extra million in wages between now and the summer. Then, in Rom's mind, someone will pay the release fee, becuase he is so awesome, and he will get another signing on fee (and the champions league club of his dreams).

Some players adapt and can make the step up if have better players around them. I'm done with writing players off.

I've watched him since he was a teenager at Utd all the way along as he was a real underage prospect for Ireland. He can do a job and has excellent delivery form set pieces. Just dont see where he would improve us. He fills in a lot at LB for Ireland and is easily enough exposed.

Very limited player. He's hardly tearing up the championship and the lack of suitors in the summer speaks to his lack of quality. We should be aiming for better, signing this guy would signal a Kenwright-esque level of transfer activity and not the new dawn most of us were hoping for.
