January Transfer Thread 2017

A sensible club with only one fit midfielder who can't play twice in a week would have sorted a deal out before the weekend.

A sensible club with 3 injured cms and another nowhere near the first 11 would have already sorted one out

A sensible club......

Could we register someone yesterday or today even if we wanted to?? I am just asking with them both being bank holidays.

Am I being far too optimistic hoping we may have 1 through the door tomorrow??

Yes we loaned one of the youth players out and he played yesterday.

Someone mentioned yesterday was cut off today, so Friday for the weekend I imagine.

Best name EVER, we simply must sign him.

Everton have been linked with a January swoop for Vitesse Arnhem's Zimbabwean international midfielder Marvelous Nakamba. Nakamba, who is currently preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals, is also said have caught the eye of Bundesliga duo Wolfsburg and Hamburg - and Belgian giants Anderlecht. The 22-year-old midfielder, however, is refusing to be distracted by the transfer speculation and admits his sole focus is on the international tournament due to take place in Gabon later this month. "This morning was a hectic one," he told The Sunday Mail on Friday. "I received a lot of enquiries from the media back in Netherlands, they want to know more about my situation following reports linking me with a number of clubs. "I can't talk much about which clubs have made moves, for now my mind is on the AfCON finals." Nakamba has played every minute in 16 of Vitesse’s 17 league matches this season and is now regarded as one of the top central midfielders in the Eredivisie. Known to be a strong tackler and accurate passer, he has 18 months left on his current contract at the GelreDome.

Immediate starter and I literally don't care how good he is.

It's like worrying over an upcoming exam for Evertonians this window.

I am reasonably hopeful for this month with a "Fool me once" approach but it would make a big difference if they could do some business before the cup game.

I hope it's a case of groundwork bearing results and lessons learned. It's an important window for the whole club. There will be ramifications for Walsh in particular with fans if we see examples of poor execution.

The one good thing is that this is all public and with a defined deadline. There won't really be room for excuses before a quite sceptical fanbase however much they would attempt to spin failure.

Let's just be positive in the absence of reasons not to be for the time being I think.

Sounds intriguing... hardly helps fill the gap left by Gana during the ACON though.

With all the gut wrenching on purchases, lets talk sales.....

We would all love to sell Niasse, Kone, Gibson, McGeady and the like. The trouble is nobody in their right mind is likely to give us actual money for any of them..... I'm sure most of us would take 5m for the lot just to clear the wages.

We likely could sell Cleverley, Jagielka, McCarthy and Deulofeu for real money. Possibly 7, 7, 18 and 12 respectfully - a total of 44m.

While there is no doubt we should shift the unwanteds in the first group no matter how low the price, what should we do with the folks for whom there might actually be a market? Is it better to keep them and then have the money in the summer when it might help next years wage structure under the convoluted rules, or should we sell them for the funds to improve the squad immediately?

Would you essentially trade those 4 for Schneiderlin and Depay or all 4 for a VVD for that matter?
