January Transfer Thread 2017

Given our record with transfers it sounds very wise for Koeman to disassociate from that side as much as possible.

He will have to take the lions share of responsibility for the players actually signed, but identifying signings and finalising transfers, as we found out painfully last summer, are two entirely different things.

It's all moot if sufficient resources are not there in the first place.

The big question over the next two windows is the amount that will be spent, net of outgoings.

RK ultimately has to deliver a winning side playing good football.

Right now, it's most certainly time for Moshiri to show what this takeover is all about.

Very much so.

For newer posters, a few years ago, one of the lads on here, @Moomin iirc, managed to get some papers writing stories about us signing Kenwyne Jones, based on him making it all up on here.

Since then, a window never passes without similar attempts. Getting one in the papers/on BBC text gossip thing is the grail. Other clubs forums a close second.

Things like this are the reason I love the Internet.

'Joseph Chicoazul Yobo' will never be beaten though. Still cracks me up to this day :)

The thing about Koeman is that he's trying to wash his hands of all transfer activity and you simply cant do that. No wonder he likes the DoF position at clubs he works at because he looks to me like he wants to hide behind it. Sorry, but he'll be judged in terms of the quality of players we do bring in, not Walsh. And he'll be judged in terms of demanding finances are in place for these windows.
You are incredibly boring mate. Literally jump on everything the man does. It's not his fault Roberto was [Poor language removed] and got sacked

Had a worse record under the Spanish fraud yet you were just about the only one supporting him at the end.

Go figure.
That happened under a manger on the ay out at the hands of players who simply wouldn't show up. That 4 from 16 of Koeman's is much worse because he's only just turned up and players should be playing out of their skins.

That's just a ridiculous come back. Koeman was sacked by a Dutch ale house club. It happens. What wont happen though is Koeman giving us a stellar season in charge of this club and setting records. Guaranteed.

You forgot my post from the other day so soon dave, Martinez mid way through his second season in charge had a spell worse than the one Koeman has just come out of

What was the excuse then mate, after all he was the manager who they all should have been running through walls for at that time, having amassed the magical 72 point season just a few months earlier. Was that spell in your opinion worse than Koemans, and can quote you the stats if you like that showed how abjectly pathethic a run it was

Mate you're complaining he's not overseeing transfers. That's why we have a DoF, koeman has obviously identified who he wants and it's up to Walsh and the board to make it happen. The only records I'm interested in is Everton winning silverware, not this fabled 5th place you like to talk about. Give the man time.

Hopefully has nothing to do with anything him or Elstone

Just rehash the recent article on Steve Walsh in the Times.

Walsh & Koeman talk about potential targets. Both have to say "Yes" for it to progress. Walsh then takes the name to Moshiri & Kenwright (who is still the chairman) and if they OK it, Elstone & Walsh get on with trying to secure the player. No doubt Bill would try and sell the club to the target. Love him or loathe him, Bill is a true blue and only wants the best for the club now & in the future
