I keep spelling his name incorrectly too.

Cant see Koeman signing a playmaker...will play 2 CMs and 1 DM or vice versa imo

Barkley showed yesterday and against Arsenal that when he has freedom to roam he can pull the strings.

Atm, with the players we currently have, we need to play almost a 4-4-2 to incorporate that, though.

Hopefully, the next few signings will allow us to play a variety of systems and still allow Barks to thrive.

Biggest factor in freeing up Barkley is having Davies/Mccarthy in instead of Barry, IMO. I like Barry but he very much sits in front of the back 4, which means two things: 1. Barkley can't pick up the ball deep as easily, 2. Barkley doesn't have a ball-player to link up with in the final third. Having Davies or McCarthy in changes this.

Well, to an extent mate.

Even with Davies in yesterday Ross struggled for about 15 minutes either side of half-time.

Just as key IMO is options up top, as it allows Ross more room.

Yesterday, he started left side, with Cavlert-Lewin up top, but was allowed to roam in.

But when Kev came on, Koeman switched it to a 4-2-3-1, which doesn't get the best out of Kev either.

He realised his error thankfully and Valencia going on helped free up Ross and Kev, and in turn that gave Davies more space and he became more involved.

I agree. Yesterday Barkley looked like the player we expected him to be. First time I've seen him play forward balls in ages.

I think playing Davies and Gueye together gives him a platform to do what he does best. Moving the ball forward quickly.
