Fonte would be a pointless signing imo, Holgate, Mori and Williams are all good enough to see us through to the end of the season with Jagielka as back up if nobody younger is available.

Browning and Galloway to come back as well. Ronnie does seem to like centre halves.

...Brownings contract is due up and no news of an extension suggests he might be surplus to requirements. I doubt Galloway would've gone on loan had he been in RKs plans.

Not if Jags is being sold mate.

I'd rather have Fonte in the side than Mori, for example. But I'd rather have Mori than Jags at this stage.

Fonte to come in as a stop-gap if Jags is off, and then go and get a Keane/Gibson/Koulibaly (who knows ) in the summer.

Mori then goes if he hasn't improved, and we have Fonte or Williams as back-up, while Holgate continues to provide cover for both CB and RB.

Good god, I forgot he existed. Remember when we started him in a second-leg knockout round in the Europa? Good times.

I don't mind us bringing in a top quality CB in their mid-twenties, doesn't make any sense to sign another 30+ one though. We already have an aging squad.

Browning I'd probably agree there due to his injury but I reckon Galloway was sent out for experience.

Don't get all the Fonte negativity

Proven CB, who the manager wants. Gives us depth and options to play 3 at the back while bringing through youth.

An older CB is diffrent prospect to an older midfielder.

We should go for Chancel Mbemba of Newcastle.
For some reason he's not playing there but I've seen him play for Anderlecht (in CL as well) and he's really great. Strong, fast but especially technically good. A real football playing CB. Next to him you can put someone who can only defend and head balls away (Williams? Mori?).

He's not playing at Newcastle because he's not very good.
