1. Get him signed and hope he changes his mind and you don't have to spend all sorts on a new forward

Alternatively

2. Get a fee for him in the summer instead of losing him on a free and getting a smaller fee via tribunal

Surely it'd make more sense to meet half way and let him go for 10 million though, rather than drag the whole thing out and risk it going to tribunal?

He's a project of their youth set up, 10 Million for him is a good return

True, but if you can get him on a free in the summer and pay 6-8 via tribunal then you'd go that route.

Don't know if Peace is still running the show at West Brom for the Chinese Group that bought it but he and Berahino are finished from that phantom Spurs deal so there's no chance of them doing a deal if he's about. Again, not 100% sure if he's there with the Chinese but that'd be the case if he is.

You mean a center half who likes a slide tackle but loves the back pass and the extra useless, dangerous dribble?

Then Stones it is.
The point being he was our last defender to be good in the slide tackle. The fact he had his finger hovering over the self-destruct button at all times wasn't being discussed.

But what's WBA's angle?

They clearly don't want him, but they are still offering triple his wages

Is it just to pad their case during the eventual tribunal?

"As you can see, we offered him a new deal and he turned it down. Can we have some money now please?"

Or do they want him tied up to a new deal so they can charge a higher transfer fee?

It all smells rotten if you ask me
4 goals in his last 35 league games.

He's CRAP

I reckon it must be like when Spurs put that cheeky bid in for ings, they knew he wouldn't come but it helped push up the price at tribuneral, it's all just pure spite, I quite like it, teach him for being such a cretan!

The actual fee currently that WBA can get for him in the summer is £300,000. They need to do something before then or lose millions

Manolas - loves a slide tackle. When was the last centre-half we had that loved an old-fashioned slide tackle?

Yobo maybe, but he was clumsy as anything.
John Stones had a crackin slide tackle in him before he forgot how to defend. That one early doors in the FA cup against QPR was top drawer.
