Always difficult to tell with the difference in standard with the Prem and Championship but good on the ball , great engine and excellent passer - exactly the type of player we need .... not sure that he's anywhere near good enough for us though.

Holmes is a player that a decent amount of USA fans have been upset with the current manager for not really bringing into the fold, as the current manager (who had spotty credentials for being given the job and a brother who's an upper executive in the federation) has a tendency to pick some fairly mediocre MLS players ahead of him. But even if he got selected, there are three solid starting Bundesliga level midfielders ahead of him, two of whom are 21 or younger (one, Tyler Adams, has been injured and probably will be a very good Premier League starter within 4 or 5 years if he can stay healthy).

He moved to England with one of his parents (he's born in USA with one parent American, other English) at age 4, hence playing there without getting capped hardly at all.

All that said, I'd be shocked if he ever plays in the Premier League without coming up on a promoted side. Think midfield Antonee Robinson: Has some characteristics as a credible professional footballer, but he seems to be at his proper level.
