Yes but what I mean is when people say this is Ancelotti's first signing that no Brands signs players. They are all Brands signings.

The DoF should be accountable for all signings, but I’d be very surprised if Ancelotti doesn’t have his say on particular players, and I’d be even more surprised/disappointed if Brands doesn’t listen.

Clearly Ancelotti won’t know this youngster.

Cos he was Irish til about 2 years ago and playing in the championship

Till that’s long enough to get picked, he didn’t even play in a senior friendly for ROI (which he still could have changed to england) He’s about the level DCL is at the moment a prospect but not much more. But time will tell, but it’s very unlikely like I said he would come here, more than likely he will be off to spurs next.

I'm not saying the manager shouldn't have some input but largely speaking the DOF and scouts should do the work of getting players in. Ancelotti's role should be very general on the front end in saying what is needed and that's really it.

His contract is up in June. Hull have a one year contract extension trigger which they will surely make use of. Aston Villa are trying to buy him. He's worth 20m plus. He obviously wants to move. There will be a transfer tug of war soon enough.

....agree, but he’s so widely travelled and has managed such quality it would be folly to ignore if he specifies a player rather than a ‘type’ of player.

During the season he communicates to Brands what he needs. Summertime when he isn't managing the team every day he can look through some of the players that Brands and his team have done all the leg work on already and offer input. But 95% of it should be Brands.
