January Transfer Window 2012

The prospect of Bily going out is alone sufficient for me to get excited.
If we get Cerci and maybe Onuoha AND a striker in, I'd be delighted and would feel that we could maybe sort the team out.

That would do me just fine actually. Time to hibernate and wake up on the 1st Feb now, as I don't think I can cope with the false hope and subsequent depression that being an Everton supporter in the last week of a transfer window causes.

Few quotes from an article on LCAB and THT's site, possibly some cause for optimism:

Regarding a striker:
Lots of people have asked if we are interested in any strikers and we can confirm that we have made moves for a few strikers and still have offers on the table for 3 at present ! I am not saying we would sign three but those enquiries have led to offers, whether that be loan or permanent. That is without the Edson Buddle option.

Regarding Pienaar:
Steven Pienaar remains a possibility although we have been told that he would probably prefer to stay in London if it is ONLY a loan deal. Harry Redknapp has already scuppered that deal twice this window as he has been unable to get the players he is after !

Regarding Onouha:
Nedum Onouha is another that is still a possibility (more hopeful than Pienaar) but again it is dependent on Manchester City and what they want to do with the player but we understand Everton have a decent chance of getting him.

Regarding Bily:
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is likely to leave with some Russian clubs showing their interest, one in particular who are in negotiations with Everton and look as though they might actually complete a deal to take the likeable Russian back home.

3 strikers is interesting....

Peanuts...would love him back even if on loan.

Nedum...i really think he could blossom here.

Always thought Ekotto was sh*te... then a couple of weeks back he tore us a new one and scored a 30-yard piledriver to top it off...

That said, we were very sh*te that day.

It's nice to see Bill's promise of investing in the squad being made good. Gibson fee cancelled out (and probably then some) by the Bily sale.

What a liar that man is.

Assou Ekotto is one of the better left backs in the league, although he's no Baines. He has improved a lot over the past couple of years and is pretty solid defensively and going forward. Doesn't make too many mistakes.
