January Transfer Window 2023

Hmm, remember when Chelsea made a late “bid” for Richarlison that forced Spurs to cough up our asking price? I wonder if we’re returning a favour here, trying to get Newcastle to bite? He makes so little sense for us at that price.

That bid also confirms we are still going to be persisting with the ridiculous idea that Calvert Lewin is suddenly going to find form and fitness again.

We need a striker and the only people who can't see it are the people who matter at the club.
It’s beyond infuriating

£40m is ludicrous; signing a CM over LW/RW/ST is ludicrous but then again, Everton waited 2 full days to announce the new manager to fans after briefing all the media first and had the cheek to talk about and reference the fans welcome of Everton players/coach in the Dyche VT despite having vilified us for it just a week ago.

Transfers are paid over course of a contract mate.

We wouldn't be spending £40 millions in one lump - 5 year deal = £8 mil upfront and then 8 mil for the remaining 4 years.

Not necessarily correct at all.

They are amortised over the length of a contract. Complete different concept.

They can be paid in instalments, in one go, basically however the contract is structured. You write off the value over time.

If the fee is 40m, then it doesn't matter how it is structured. We would have 40m to amortise in our accounts over time, and that is a heck of a lot of money for a team in financial trouble heading for relegation.

Looks like it's Gallagher, which makes absolutely no sense.
I’d really like Gallagher…but he is barely worth half of that offer.

Forget the headline 40 mill…

Be a five year deal 8 mill a season + wages.

We’d still have more to play with.

Big investment mind.

If we could negotiate a loan, with an obligation/option in the summer more the better, however we could get relegated.

I've just seen his highlights. Headless chicken and a fluke goal. So, I'll base it on stats. Sulemana team is 5th and that's all hes managed for them in the French League...impressive.

Sulemana
French League!
Games - 14/Goals - 1/Assists - 0

Gray
Premier League
Games - 20/Goals - 3/Assists - 1

14 games....317 mins

Thats 3.5 games worth of mins almost all as sub.

Thinking about it, we’ve got 40m lump sum to play with here. Get him on a 5 year deal and it’ll be a fairly small up front fee. Blast the rest at some forwards though
8m up front it would be.
Could do 2 or more similar deals.

Young enough to hold decent value.
