Forget the headline 40 mill…

Be a five year deal 8 mill a season + wages.

We’d still have more to play with.

Big investment mind.

If we could negotiate a loan, with an obligation/option in the summer more the better, however we could get relegated.
The money isn't the thing for me (although I do think that fee is overinflated). I just don't see where he plays?

Leaking false news to the media so our real targets remain under the radar till they signed after the fiasco with Spurs?

A loan with option to buy at 40m I'd agree on. I like him, I like his workrate, he's a busy player.

At this moment in time, I don't think spending 40m would be good business because we need more than him up top.

Loan = definitely yes.
40m now = very dangerous recruitment if we put all our money into the one transfer

Spending £45m on Connor Gallagher automatically ruins our FFP for the summer especially if we go down.
Not sure it does because we have a few big earners not contributing who are off the books like Mina and Gomes if I recall and if we were to go down there’s a big parachute payment too

I’m no expert though, I just like the player but also think he’s not a priority for what we need

Depends, Gordon was 40 up front - I’d assume we’d structure a deal differently though.

I suppose I should rephrase - Gallagher along with a winger and a striker without doing something that ruins our FFP for the summer would actually be great imo
Newcastle say it wasn’t one lump sum. “Up front” often means that part of a transfer fee which doesn’t include clauses. So it could have been £40 million staggered over the contract length. Guess it doesn’t matter though
