I realise your comment is probably tongue-in-cheek but I imagine Dyche and Thelwell would have already discussed transfers in and out together. The club is not entirely clueless.
Very tongue in cheek, this is Everton after all.

I, like everyone else supporting this waste of a club would love the right players to come in and at least they would be ready for Arsenal but it is Everton!!!!! ?

40 mill is mad but you look at Gordon and we have now set a market for average players.
That's why we should not be looking at the premier league market but our lack of knowledge of other markets is clearly a problem.

What's the point of getting a great fee on an under-performing player only to blow it all in one go on another overpriced, under-performing player?

I dont mind Gallagher,

Decent player, however we've just got £40m + addons for Gordon, surely that gives us scope to use that money on 2/3/4 players with addons, rather than just going and blowing it in one deal?

Contract would have to be 5/6/7 years really to be any of short-term financial leeway?

What a bizarre, bizarre signing this would be. I do think we need another midfielder capable of carrying the ball, but surely a winger/striker both have to come first?

He's a good player but not 45m good.

Just feels like if we spent all that on Gallagher n we never really got a good deal on Gordon because we've been equally stupid spending it.

I do like Gallagher, deffo improves us but if it's him and no attackers then we just deserve everything coming our way, if it's him AND attackers then I'll be happy

We get a little windfall, great! But are we really going to be this reckless and spunk it all on CG? I mean I think he is decent, but that is a big offer. We need wingers and striker ideally a lb as priority end of.
(Can’t help but think there is an onanna hitch here)

I love Gallagher as a player and believe that his Palace form is a lot closer to his level than his Chelsea form. But the idea that we’d spend 40m on him right now is madness. Just after Lampard is sacked, just after Dyche comes in who famously plays a disciplined system with two in midfield, and when we have the worst forward options in the league.

Even if Onana was about to be sold it’s not a proper replacement because they play so differently. Even if Dyche is changing his style in the middle of a relegation fight, we don’t have time or money to be also brining in a good forward before tomorrow.

Smoke screen, other clubs can't they and rip us off if they think we've spaffed it all on Gallagher
