To be fair, if Gordon is deemed a £45m player I guess so is Gallagher.

The worrying thing is what do actual decent players cost? £450m?

For this saying the fee is too much. He was in the England squad as an attacking midfielder alongside Grelaish, Foden, Mount, Bellingham - how much do you think they’d go for on the open market?

Chelsea are bidding over 100 million for Fernandez, we’ve just sold a completely unproven academy product for 45 mill, this is the price for an international midfielder that’s in demand.
Yeah I’m not sure we can have any complaints if that’s the price quoted to us before a bid comes in since we just got the same haul for Gordon. Gallagher is only a little older and has done more in the league than Gordon (and scored more goals from midfield btw). In my opinion it’s not how we should be allocating the money at this point in time, but I’d love having him here and can have no complaints that it costs that much.

He also didn’t get a sniff of football over any of them, what’s this meant to prove? We can’t afford to pay £45m for Connor Gallagher when we need 3 forwards tbh.

I think
Gordon at £40m was hilarious
Gallagher at £40m is actually valued correctly
Gallagher shouldn’t be our priority ALTHOUGH he does add goals and assists which NONE of our current CMs do
Gallagher plus a striker plus a winger and no outgoings (unless they’re way down the pecking order like Holgate) would be an outstanding end to the window as long as we’re not wrecking ourselves for future finances though I reckon with big contracts like Mina and Gomes coming to an end we have wiggle room

A striker by themselves doesn’t necessarily improve us, it’s the service to them that ain’t there at the moment. It’s not as though Calvert Lewin is missing three or four huge chances per game and that’s the only thing wrong with the team. We barely make chances so an attacking midfielder could improve the output of all the other attacking players as well.

Gallagher is not a creative or attacking midfielder.

Dyche played 442 at Burnley because it suited the players he had and we’ve assumed he’d do the same.

Could it be he’s looked at the centre backs we have available and the poor options out wide and concluded that with the right playmaker 352 is the way to go? In which case Gallagher plus one more centre forward option?

I’m trying to make it make sense.
Dyche played 4-4-1-1 with Burnley for some time with Jeff Hendrick as a "nr 10". He probably wants the same here and get goals from midfield. Or Gallagher plays with Onana/Gueye in a 4-4-2

I’d be very surprised that, even if this bid is true, and that’s a big if, that it doesn’t alert a couple of other clubs. Newcastle have had interest in him for a while.

It proves that that’s the market price for a player of the profile of Gallagher who would even make that squad alongside those names.

Whether Everton should buy the player or not is a different question but people can’t have a go at the fee especially after we’ve just sold a player who isn’t even an international for more than this

I read this, as an instruction!

I’d like to think he’d bring us some goals from midfield which we need badly, a mix of him, onana and gana/iwobi isn’t hideous. We’d still need a winger and a striker though.

Why does anyone think Gallagher would cost less than Gordon? More experienced, same age, capped by England and has better G/A.
Gordon wasn't arguably the worst player in his clubs squad.

Selling clubs set the prices, we lost one of our most talented young players who we didn't want to sell.

Gallagher is one of the least talented players at Chelsea and would be their 6th choice CM if Enzo comes in so them getting £45m for him would raise eyebrows
