I actually think Gallagher is decent and could do well here, but £40m is way too much regardless of our budget, and particularly so when we're so desperate for attackers. We are one bizarre football club.

Unfortunately with what we've just sold for £40m that's probably the going rate for Gallagher (infact if you used Gordon as a yardstick he's probably worth £60m.)

The fact that Chelsea have given player 6,7,8 year deals has little to do with the way in which the transfer is being paid.

It’s possible ( unlikely but possible) that the Chelsea have paid all the fees upfront

Ben Johnson has looked utterly lost at full back every time I've seen him. He's a CB playing fullback, might as well just use Godfrey in that role.

Neither can Johnson. As other posts have said, can't cross, can't defend. I'm not sure what else he brings as a fullback other than a warm body.
