3.45 am at the discotheque. Most people have already paired off and now even the likes of Conor Gallagher are turning us down, even after we waved a wedge of cash under her nose that we just got from selling some dodgy vitamins to a drunk Geordie. Things looking a bit desperate. Going to have to hope we pull a cracker out of the bag when the lights come on, but not sure the Sean Dyche makeover is going to help us here. Maybe we'll find Antonio stuffing her face at the kebab place...

We might be signing players, or potentially a player, but nothing is obvious when there are under 36 hours to go.

Dyche was very keen to play down the recruitment point, and instead focus on the current squad. This might well mean nothing, but it might mean something, we just don't know yet and won't find out until tomorrow.
That's the best way to get the squad behind you. Make them your total focus, rather then shining the limelight on signings you need to bring in.

It's obviously not good for us but it is the right approach. While the potential signings are worked on in the background.

Every player has a fresh start, but no player has a guarantee'd starting spot.
It's now down to them to earn a place in this team.

There is no time to fiddle around sulky attitudes and I wouldn't be surprised if dyche silently approved the 'Gordon' transfer, cos he certainly won't want that kind of attitude around the squad.

No player is bigger then the club...

Plays both flanks.

New one on me, but then again, what have we got here now that's going to be better than him?

….when it’s a low bar, I think that’s the wrong line to take. We always want better but there has to be a minimum requirement. He might be fine but he’s made a few howlers when I’ve watched him.

Struggles for any game time. Not sure we’ve done well with West Ham signings, although some might point to Cottee.

I think Gallagher is a top player, was my dream signing in the summer after what was an excellent season on loan at Palace.

Would be stupid to write him off for struggling this season at Chelsea. They're almost as much of a mess as we are, just with far better players. No discernable style of play, and no plan to get the best out of the players they have. He has underperformed in an underperforming side and most likely has been made a bit of a scapegoat by their fanbase due to him being a highly rated academy product and lifelong Chelsea fan.

WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID, if that 40m is all we have to spend and we dont sign any forwards then this is an absolutely insane decision.

Leave it to Everton to make me worried about us signing a player that I've desperately wanted us to buy for over a year.
I think this has some fair points. I too like Gallagher and find him an engaging player. In a vacuum I'd prefer to have him over Gordon for the same price.

But this extends far past that and we cant afford to simply trade one inflatedly priced prospect for another. If we currently are submitting bids for 40 million as we are on the fringe of relegation and have FFP restrictions, we are as insane as they come.

The championship has inflated value on prices, let alone caste off's from the biggest premier league sides. Something that could limit suitors in the future in sell on's, add to an imbalanced wage bill and just perpetuate the complete dysfunction. The obsession with predomently domestic scouting I think is poor.

Thelwell worked in MLS which Id assume gave him details and access to both America's markets. A case only strengthened by a Red Bull connection who are excellent in global smaller league scouting. How is non of that barring fruit for value proposition signings that are at or under 15 million is lunacy. All with essentially hours left in the winter window.

This club is just an utter mess in near every facet.

I realise your comment is probably tongue-in-cheek but I imagine Dyche and Thelwell would have already discussed transfers in and out together. The club is not entire
I realise your comment is probably tongue-in-cheek but I imagine Dyche and Thelwell would have already discussed transfers in and out together. The club is not entirely clueless.
If its true we have made an offer for Gallagher why not try again for Kudus, did he not play and score at Anfield and score a great goal and he also had a great world cup, worth a try IMO.
