Personally think our current crop of yoof are largely garbage tbh.

Every manager gets slack for not playing em but maybe there is a reason for that ?

Problem is the fanbase think we have a load of Rooneys and Barkleys knocking around but being overlooked - look at the clamour over Dobbin last season, way people were carrying on you would think he was Mbappe.

Maybe but the u21s we have like Branthwaite, Patterson, Onana, Garner, Gordon etc look good to me.

The watford lorns lad or something similar said he thinks 25 would do it. Agree tho if the club is planning to do this they must have more to get a cf. maybe double deal with the lad beto because of the same owners

35 million for Sarr whilst refusing to go over 10 for Brereton Diaz.

We were willing to go over 10 for Brereton Diaz, as were Fulham, Blackburn however kept upping their price making it impossible to do a deal

Garbage is certainly an unfair perspective, however I do feel there's weight in the point that they're remaining in a competition of League One and Two teams.

For their careers, it looks a good sign, yet the step-up to the Championship will not be guaranteed, let alone the PL. We do overestimate some youth potential.

I think it's more a case of how can someone rate a player/players they've never actually watched before. Somehow doubt Foreverflasherjacket has ever watched our U21's/U18's streamed games.

You dont need to watch them to know that 99.9% of them wont be making it here.

That's a really good point, and one I'm not dismissing in the slightest. Nevertheless, I think someone with a semblance of reasoning know about the odds.

Over the past two decades, how many of our youth players have ever cut the mustard, so to speak? And that's talking about who've secured a place in the squad.

If you're talking about those who've made the first team XI and looked like they're deserving of being there, we're talking about a handful of players - at most.

That doesn't mean we should write off all players and you'd hope (dream) that we'd get a good generation at some point, but the chances are very slight.

I'd want the likes of Cannon and Dobbin to make it, however it does baffle me when you hear the shouts of, 'Get the young lads up front' etc. peddled regularly.

If they were genuinely good enough and/or ready, why wouldn't the manager and coaches do it? The simple (and logical) reason is that they're not ready.

I am nowhere near an expert nor have I watched the amount of youth games as others will have, however from what I've seen I surmise one (at most) will make it.

Right now, our youth system ain't the best in terms of outcomes, even though it's held in relatively high regard. The RS's is even worse from what I know.
