January Transfer Window 2023

Take issue all you want but we have been this way for a long time and nothing has changed. Unity means sod all if you can't produce the goods when it matters (which we can't) The fanbase is really not what I would call unified either, just look at the 27 years stuff and you can see that. Whilst I don't agree with the way they go about stuff we have sections of the fanbase having a go at other fans who want better for the club. As for our position in the table it's like that because we have a manager who is massively out of his depth and his experienced backroom team seem to be about as useful as a chocolate teapot. These signings in the Jan window need to be 100%, A grade, absolute guaranteed to make a difference otherwise I really do think it will be our year this year.
Agree with everything you've said, but I do think Everton can still be a good home for strays.

The fans would immediately take to Sancho if he flashed a bit of quality for us. Would have been the same with Alli if he wasn't completely finished.

That said, I can't imagine Sancho needing to drop as far down as Everton in order to get minutes.

I think Sancho just needs to concentrate on getting well again for the moment, I'm not sure where he fits in for the future with Utd but if the option came about then I don't see why we wouldn't try, will depend on what happens with Gordon I guess.

The Rondon thing is interesting. He still had 18 months to run on his contract and the termination is with 'immediate effect'. Would we be so quick to punt a striker unless a specific signing was currently in the works? Unless Lampard & Thelwell are sold on Cannon, that is..

Either way it's actually quite refreshing to see the club take definitive action with a player deemed to be not up to the level required long before his contract is even up.

Even when he was fit Gray and Gordon were playing up front ahead of him. Wouldn’t read too much into it.

Hes played 100 minutes all season and most came in the one start. We literally do not need to replace him it was just burning money. We accepted a bid in October after our window closed but he didn't want to leave

….being advertised in the club Sale but it doesn’t say how much.

The issue I'd have, is of late we havent been that way at all. I think we were under Moyes, as we had a good dressing room. I'm not sure we have that now.

Exactly this, for all we know if things don't go to plan (anything is possible where we are concerned) we could be in the 'new manager hunt' within a matter of a few games. That's hardly the ideal environment for bringing in a troubled/off path player who is looking for guidance in their career, they meet their new manager then all of a sudden it's another new manager who they may not take to so much.

….the player might well have orchestrated this situation.

He might be on a big contract but cancelling it allows him to negotiate what is in effect a Bosman. I wouldn’t be surprised if EFC have given a sweetener to leave but I’d be surprised if he hasn’t already got a lucrative deal lined up elsewhere. Shrewd business on his behalf, especially if moving his family to a nice part of the world.
