It sort of goes for managers too. Ancelotti left us in a much better position than every other manager. We messed that security up, with the board dallying and the manager performing badly. A bit like when Moyes left, we were left in a good situation. I'm not saying either were perfect, but I'd take that over someone being sacked and we are in the bottom 3.
And they are our options really. With players and managers. Very few are staying here long term. So it's on what basis they leave.
I'd rather lose them for big fees like Lukaku, Stones, Richarlison etc than paying people to stay.
I could go on here and rant more, but we need to become better at selling. Richarlison should have gone earlier, Dominic Calvert-Lewin should have gone and Gordon should have gone last summer. I love all 3 of them, but there can be no sentimentality in business. Unfortunately we have a chairman who is all sentimentality and no business.
It's funny as if we started acting in a more clinical way, we would probably see improvements quite quickly. I think people would be quite surprised really.
