January Transfer Window 2023

I'm not saying this is the wrong thing to do but it clearly shows Lampard is not expecting any signings any time soon. It smacks of total desperation from a club who are lost.
I don’t see it. I see a club who have met Rondon go and who have realised without DCL we now literelly have Maupay and then Cannon. We need more actual players. Simms has done what was required. He’s gone away, hopefully learned his game at a better level than the under 23’s and maybe he’s ready to have a go. Not everything has to be so negative. I think this is a massive positive.

We needed new signings ready for the beginning of January. This is an act of desperation and an attempt to deflect attention away from the fact they have failed again to sign goalscorers.

Any other club our stature and this board would have been replaced years ago.

Desperation is the only way I can describe it

We had Lampard talking up Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming back and now Simms being recalled. The club seem to have no intention of signing forwards. They treat the fanbase with utter contempt.

For me Calvert Lewin isn’t even near Lukaku level .and has never been replaced.

We haven’t even replaced James Rodriguez and the Icelandic toss pot.

This is what happens with poor foresight or lack of planning. There will always be glaring issues. How many years did it take to get a new right back for example.

Wishful thinking here.. hopefully recalling Sims means we are spending most of the money on a creative midfielder or winger. Maybe DCL is back soon?

Well you only had to look at his body language in the press conference, it said everything.

Bringing that lad back solves nothing. We need creative players and clinical finishers. They cost money or at the very least shrewd scouting/negotiating.

Our finances must be woeful or at least, dictate we can’t spend much and probably late in the window.

Hope I’m wrong of course.
He would be a good last 15 minute option but at the same time it is worrying

Notice the way its leaked after Lampard has finished his Press Conference today. He well knew it was in the offing before that presser. Unbelievable if this is true. We're in a mess.

Its the usual spin from the club and people will lap it up

The protests against the club need ramped up right now. I will not support a board who have no idea what they are doing

I mean, yeah he isn't, but few players are.

I'm not excusing the board or anything but 25-goal a season strikers do not grow on trees, and are not readily affordable.

DCL is a poacher. He'll score goals if you get the ball to him in the box. He might miss a fair few too but when the creativity is there around him, he's shown he can score.

Issue is we've stripped all of that creativity out over the past 2-3 seasons for one reason or another.

Then what we've replaced it with is players who can neither score nor create with a regular consistency.

One mistake is going like for like. For example say, signing a player in similar vein to DCL? Why? You need different options. Target man tactics isn’t working, use a forward with pace to play off the shoulder and press the opposition back.

As for creativity, we haven’t even replaced James or Sigurddson mate. And Richarlison.

And now we are recalling a player who couldn’t get a chance when we were a handful of games into a season and having play Gordon up there.

There’s no foresight here. No sense of contingency or tact. It’s all scattergun resulting in gaping flaws year on year having to be amended or delayed to be fixed a following transfer window.

Simms will never be a Prem forward, just doesn’t have the attributes. Still he’s probably a better option than Cannon, so it’s worth recalling him.

Lampard still talking up Dom though is a joke tbh. I’ve never known a club put so much faith in such an underwhelming injury prone player who has to have the ball on an absolute plate to score a goal.
