This isn’t Football Manager, it’s the real world. Nobody is compelled to accept our offers. I suspect the reality is that we have to sell first before we can buy.
That’s why you tend to have a full year to plan. You know, that utter weird concept where you look at all your variables and start having things out in place

Oh struggling with cash, let’s look at lower divisions or countries outside of mainland Europe. Or, let’s look at the loan situation.

And we don’t have to sell at all

It’s hard to know what logic is at play here.

If we say we need a wide forward and a striker, I think it’s fair to say we probably don’t have the funds to get a quality player for each of those positions.

Maybe Simms coming back means we’re going to go all-in on the wide forward.

Or maybe not. Maybe he’s just a nice-to-have extra option that we may as well have at our disposal, given he’s already our player.

Simms has at least shown an ability to put the ball in the net, and whether he’s viewed by Everton as the answer, or simply an additional answer, we don’t yet know.

But I’m very much of the opinion that it’s not a bad move to bring him back.
I'm clinging onto the hope that it is a way of reinforcing the centre forward position whilst saving budget for elsewhere. Hopefully Simms isn't all we are doing...

Sigh…

it doesn’t work like that. We are a team in a relegation scrap and constrained financially. I am sure there are plenty teams lining up to sell us their PL ready saviours for a pittance.

The business will probably get done at the end of the window because of our current status. That’s the reality of our situation.

Personally I'll be shocked if we bring in more than 1-2 players on loan.

I think a lot of the fans are in for dissapointment.

I hope the same as you and It is reinforcing the position regardless. He’s already further along his development and is a better striker than Cannon (who might make the grade but shouldn’t be in a position at his age and experience of having the fortunes of the club resting on his shoulders) who has been getting on the bench so I don’t understand the criticism. It’s probably borne out of the club actually doing something that makes sense for a change and people don’t know how to react

Doubt we will go for Gyokores. Hence us bringing Simms back.
Somebody pointed out yesterday that Simms has a better ratio of minutes played per goal than Gyokeres does. In the same division.

If that's true, what's the point of buying Gyokeres instead of recalling Simms, unless there's some starkly obvious reason why Simms definitely WON'T make it at Prem level and Gyokeres definitely will?

Let's upgrade the wide options: I'd be happy to see Gordon and Gray backing up two new arrivals. Tsygankov remains interesting IMHO.
