January Transfer Window 2023

I’m not sure that utd lad improves us,
And why waste a loan on him first week of January, surely we can have better loan targets to look at First. And if we’re struggling come the last week of the window,
Then maybe go for him

Would rather we took Sancho on loan than Elanga.

Im not Sancho's biggest fan but think he at least has some level of proven talent whereas Elanga is another Anthony Gordon hype job imo.

Somebody pointed out yesterday that Simms has a better ratio of minutes played per goal than Gyokeres does. In the same division.

If that's true, what's the point of buying Gyokeres instead of recalling Simms, unless there's some starkly obvious reason why Simms definitely WON'T make it at Prem level and Gyokeres definitely will?

Let's upgrade the wide options: I'd be happy to see Gordon and Gray backing up two new arrivals. Tsygankov remains interesting IMHO.

Simms has a 1.3 goal involvement per 90 minutes played and gyokeres is 1.7.

gyokeres has the better stats but per 90 its fairly close. So I agree whats the point of paying £15-20m for someone when we can just recall a lad who got similar stats for free.

Simms looks to be faster and hes also taller then gyokeres.

Keep up, we're on about the January window
It is possible to have deals lined up when it is so obvious what is needed.

This time last year, both Patterson and Mykolenko had been signed, so even this club knows how to do it.

I'd say our need for goals right now is more than our need was this time last year for a young RB and LB, and the latter was only coming in because the Pig Man made sure he got what he wanted.

We didn't even have a DoF this time last year...

I think simms is just to cover for Cannon who will go on loan, simms has that bit more experience, that will hopefully help from the bench
Agreed, especially when Cannon must have caught that illness Gordon did. Those two unexpectedly out must seen Frank looking at his bench even more upset than normal.

Anyone thinking we don’t need a proper forward option or that Simms fits that mould is very wrong and Frank is no idiot.

The biard has been inept, I absolutely agree. It’s too early to judge Thelwell. He has had one transfer window that was ok by our standards.

This mess will take years to sort, not one summer.
He’s been in post a year. He sold Richarlison and thought it was appropriate to purchase Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay

Our 5 attacking players have scored less than 50 top flight goals in the entire careers. If this is not addressed, as it should have been done in the summer, we go down.

That’s the bottom line

I hate to say it too, yet look across the park at those across the park with signing Gakpo early because of their needs - Diaz and Jota.

On the other hand, though, it's often the exception rather than the norm for players to be signed early, especially in the January window.

You'd hope we are sorting a deal right now and getting it over the line as soon as possible, but thinking honestly the situation won't be as simple as we'd hope.
