That’s right but it depends what kind of football the manager wants to play. a pressing from the front style , a target man , passing football , somebody quick to get behind teams . If we buy chris wood and appoint dyche i’m sure he’ll be happy enough but Martinez or ange at Celtic less so .

I imagine This was what the director of football was supposed to solve but the fact we’re constantly linked and appoint managers with completely different styles shows it was effectively pointless.

Thought the idea of DOF was to identify players required and provide continuity in the type of player to fit a system if the manager changed. If Thelwell hasn't got anyone lined up thats incompetence especially taking into account the world Cup break.

Probably £10m for Ings would keep us up. If we cannot find that money, then we deserve to finish 20th. He's by far the most attainable Premier League-proven striker available.

Any master plan that is reliant on DCL staying fit is immediately floored. However, I think a switch to back 3 and moving to 2 up and then bringing in a wing back that can attack more effectively than Myko might be the way to go

I guess they’d have to chuck in Maupay or Simms if DCL got injured.

Anyway, it’s all pie in the sky stuff. Everton won’t sign Ings and Lampard will never deviate from his wet fart “attack”.

I like the 2 up front shout for the rest of the season but we have tried the 3/5 at the back formattion a few times over the past couple of seasons and been ripped a new one at the back or failed to score. If its 2 up front then it needs to be 4 at the back and play around with the midfield setup.

He will cost close to double that. He'd be worth it tho, imo. He'd score the goals required.
