January Transfer Window 2023

Would you say a man with both his hands tied behind his back in a boxing match is not capable of doing his job?

There's obviously money there we tried to buy mudryk and one or two others. So the money must be there.

Players we need wont want to come to us unless we're the only options. Or were waiting for bigger clubs to replace the players were after.

Wont see any movement till the end of the window imo. Simms coming back made that obvious.

Beggers cant be choosers and atm were walking up and down the queue at the movie theatre with a tin can, offering to sing for a shilling.

Well if he's not being allowed to do his job then there is no point in then DOF role, so he should go.

Either he has no authority, or he is incompetent. Either way, he should go.

And waiting to the end of the window is a total disgrace, unacceptable, and there is no excuse for it. It's a sign of a massively incompetent club with no forward thinking or initiative.

He may be hamstrung with funds so he's having to choose his options carefully. He may have quality players lined up who want to come but the team were buying from want a replacement from club a but club a need a replacement from club b and club b want a replacement from club c but club c are being gimps about the price tag of their player.

Imagine we want kamada (because a man can dream) and he wants to come here fee, contract all agreed. But frankfurt won't let him go till they replace him with say, ziyech but Chelsea won't let him go till they replace him with mudryk but shaktar are playing hard ball over the price and keep on agreeing a price then changing it then agreeing then changing it.

This is how lot of transfers happen, like domino's. Can have it the other way around where a team selling a player ends up financing multiple players transfers.

I know its frustrating and its massively counter to what we need atm but I genuinely think you cant judge the dof during the transfer window.

Judge the board for leaving us in this mess where we have to wait till the end of the window.

The way Lamps spoke in the presser before the cup match was that we won't be getting anyone in until after the Saints game he even said "we want to attack the window when it opens" but its already January, Frank?! Did he let slip that our window is later on due to our financial position? I think so.

What did he say?

With Patterson out, and not being reliant on an ageing Coleman, maybe we should try to loan Djed Spence from Spurs?

Not getting a look in, and was fantastic last season for Forest.

I know the priority is attack, but feels like full backs may be important if we stick to 532

Although what you are speculating is fair, we have relied on this domino effect for far too long and never, ever taken the initiative in the transfer market. There are other targets that could have been acquired already with strategic planning and then decisiveness.

Why not ?‍♂️

You are making all the club’s excuses for them. Every single window we hear this crap. We’re happy to just toss points down the drain because “there’s no value until the end of the window anyway”, it’s not acceptable and a completely outdated way of thinking. We are always 15 years behind the times as a club.

Just a small but important point …

Arsenal hardly spent at all when building their new stadium. Makes me wonder how much money is being siphoned over to BMD until either it’s finished or Mosh gets much needed investment now Usmanov is apparently out of the picture

Good idea but it's Levy to deal with again. I genuinely thinks he deliberately makes it as difficult as possible to deal with, even if they want a player to go. The fact we stopped being their rivals long ago wouldn't have made any difference. The risk is you get strung out all month until the last day and end up with nobody in a position you need to strengthen.

We're good for GKs, CBs and CMs. In this there's the making of a really good side.
2, 3, 7, 11, 10, and 9 all need replacing. Lack of pace, skill and vision - lack of goals - running through the lot of em.
Its hard to know what to prioritise.
If continuing to play the 532, while in transition, one short term solution maybe for McNeill and Gordon to drop into left and right back and concentrate on getting some pace in the 9 and 10 position for the counter. Maupay and DCL clearly don't have the pace required to play the system. Which sort of leaves the whole team nowhere.
If they can just get in one or two of these and get through to next season, I'm confident things can be turned around, with or without Lampard.
Big if as it stands - we seem to have a board who can't make a decision bc sacking the manager just puts their own positions in serious doubt from then on.
There is only one thing the board need to do, stop worrying about their own positions and the manager and get in the players needed. If they can't they have to go. Its on them.
