Well any signing is a shrewd signing "if it comes good"

When I say "comes good" I mean the transfer actually happens. I have no doubt personally he'll perform well at UTD.

The feller was an absolute donkey for Burnley last season, Chris wood looked 10x the player in the same team before you come back with "if he played in a better team"

Two totally different play styles so not sure it makes any sense to compare really - but Chris Wood was a head on a stick. Weghorst is a technical player that prefers the ball to his feet (something rare for forwards playing the Dycheball system).

Sleep walking into the Abyss.

We have seen lots of examples in the recent past at different clubs where players were signed over the head of the manager and for that player to be isolated and excluded from the team. It is important the DOF and manager work as a team.
You may be right about how the club are looking at it, but they'd be completely wrong to do so, for so many reasons. At the rate we go through managers, what would be the point in not bringing in a player for this one because the next one might not want them? There's a decent chance the next one will be out of a job by Christmas anyway so what difference would it make.

It is two completely different play styles, yet looking at weghorst you'd think he'd be A LOT more suited to Burnley's style given he's a big tall grock.

Agree it's hard to judge soemone for 6months with a relagated team, but I'd be furious if we spent our budget on him

I disagree. It’s important that the incoming manager is aware of the structure in place at the club when he signs. The manager is simply a head coach and should be able to work with the DOF’s players. That’s how the modern game works.
If we do things properly, the DoF picks the manager who plays in the style the DoF wants.

If we don't do that - which we haven't for the most part - there really is no point in a DoF.

Maybe we've learned our lesson on that, maybe we haven't. Who knows - the club is an impenetrable mass of vegetation.

Then it will be the board buying the players as we have no head of recruitment at the moment and the modern day manager doesn't have time to go off scouting players anymore like the old days.
