Both were a number of years ago mate, the last five years ago, in that time he’s proven a top PL goal scorer and importantly an assister and gone on to represent his country. He’s a very good PL striker capable of North of 15 a season. The rest of his injuries I would suggest are standard for a PL footballer.

When you look at someone like Callum Wilson, he’s far more more injury prone but tearing it up in the PL and made the WC squad. Kevin Campbell had some Ropey fitness before he came here to.

The age thing comes down to whether we want someone young for 10 years and will take time to develop or someone to impact now, we need someone now, has to be the priority. Again I refer to Mevin Campbell, he was a similar profile, but will always be remembered in lore for keeping us up. Sometimes you need to be pragmatic when your very PL existence is on the line.

He falls into the JT, Coady bracket and profile for me, 2 year deal with an option.
We are not in a position to be planning anything at this stage, much like last year. We need more time to get out of the long term mess but we also need a short term fix to enable us the time to build. Ings might just be that.... but it's a massive gamble.

Personally i think Maupay is decent, just isn't used correctly, he isn't the player to play as a lone striker.

if Ings came in and scored 8 goals this season that would make a massive difference. he would be the difference in tight games. We arent in a position this Jan to plan for the future we need a difference now
It would make a massive difference if he scored 8 goals in 19 games but we are talking about a guy who has scored goals at that rate one season in his PL career.

Links us with Paul Onuachu. 6ft 7 striker

That's the Kevin Thelwell model. Under performing premier league players.
Not sure what you expect when his hands are tied, or shall we take a punt on the kid Bournemouth want and we’ve been linked with 20yrs old and 20mil or Rutter who we’ve been linked with in the past, has something like 2 goals in 15 games this season for Hoffenheim and Leeds are going to pay 30/40mil. Do we take a punt? I think it’s a big gamble, considering sancho and Werner both scored loads in Germany.

Ings wouldn’t be my choice but if they want prem experience. And could get him for 10mil With maybe a 5mil add on for staying up, there was a rumour to Watkins from villa on a space last night, he’s 27 got 3 goals this year amd villa would probably want 35mil there’s not much out their. The trouble is any of the best kids abroad are costing fortunes kudus would probably be 50mil, Mudryk’s rumoured price in 70/80, Newcastle paid 60 for Isak, he’s had injuries but not looked great, got taken off at half time in the cup at the weekend.

With 10mil to play with say , who we getting from abroad. Just another mid 20’s average journeymen

Ings: not arsed about his long term injury record or wages he'll get or that Liverpool get a sell on fee...if we can get 10-15 games from him it could just be the difference between staying up or going down.
If its a short term fix, with a hard and fast injury clause in the loan deal that gets us a good few goals then no issue with it all overall, my issue is the bells that do these contracts etc wont have clauses as we are clearly seeing with the likes of Kean, maybe even the Alli loan, and many many others, we do it our way, set the bar then everybody laughs and says what did Everton do! Bet we didnt even get a sell on clause for Richy!!

We have some bad bad meffs at the top table.

I dont think we're in a position to dictate terms over Ings or anyone else.

Other clubs know the hole we're in. And so do players and their agents.

Ings on loan could be a master stroke and as has been said above, could easily be the difference. Signing him though? Nah not this month. I'd rather loan Chris Wood.

Failure to bring a goalscorer in this month though and there won't be enough expletives. I'll have to invent some. Really sordid sounding ones. Evil even.

Nah he's done it more than that to be fair (not breaking it down into exact figures but at that kind of rate at least). He's basically doing it this season. On a permanent deal i'd have major reservations but he is the type of player who could score at that sort of rate and keep us up this year.
