When you do that you end up down anyway (eventually) and then you also don't have a chance of fixing it once you're there.

Every decision should be what stabilizes the club in the next 3 to 5 years. It doesn't matter what division we're in.
In matters we need to stay in the premier league at all costs. We still need to be a premier league team going in to this new stadium.

Danjuma loan with option?

That'd be interesting. He's a good player. With his experience at Bournemouth he probably wouldn't need a long adjustment period. He had a good season last year, 10 goals in La Liga and 6 in the Champions League. Only two league goals so far this season and apparently has been struggling a bit with injury and form. The buy option/obligation might be in range of what Cunha's was, though.

Had his fair share of injury woes tbf. With that in mind, welcome to Everton.

Can't say I'm convinced by Elanga like.
I think he looks a good player, but not someone we'd want to rely on to keep us up

I get football hipsters will want the profile of a Scamacca/Haller - but we're in a position were we can't take those chances.

There's no adjustment period whatsoever.
I think not taking chances or looking for "hipster signings", and focusing on players we already know, is part of the reason why our recruitment has been so bad

So you're saying strategy should be sod the immediate, plan for 3-5 years?

You think relegation stabilizes the club?

There's idealism and then there's just being wrong.

The immediate is the massive and only priority because relegation kills any 3-5 year plan.

I don't think you've got a grasp on how bad our team is, and how stark the position the club is. With regards to the transfer market - this was your assessment of the window on 1st September;

It was fine. I'd probably prefer if we didn't gamble on Dominic Calvert-Lewin finding fitness and some form and Gordon and McNeil stepping up but it also isn't the end of the world.

It's a team that is built to win low scoring matches though which means the defense and the keeper have to be sharper.

This was mine on the same day;

⬆️ Sharing this again;

I've bored everyone with my view about our attack but I'll say it again - I think any three of any of McNeil, Gordon, Townsend, Gray, Rondon, Maupay and we struggle to be competitive enough to stay in this league. We'll be asking players to hit numbers for goals/assists that they've never hit before.

If we don't bring in anyone else to fill the void that Lampard has spoke about then IMO, we'll be in a position were the difference between a relegation scrap to the wire, or mid table comfort comes down to Calvert-Lewin's fitness IMO, and even then - we've lost his biggest providers. We don't create a lot - 19th or 20th for chances last season, and 18th so far this season.

Good night blues.

I think we're in for a rough ride again this season, unfortunately.

I like Maupay but he isn't a number 9.

Our front three is suspect even with Calvert Lewin.

I just don't see us scoring enough to keep us away from a relegation fight.

Negligence from the board.

I'm still hoping Chelsea bringing in Aubameyang and maybe Depay will let them loan Broja.

How we can bring in Tarkowski and Coady for no transfer fee, but completely neglect forward areas is beyond me.

Hope Calvert-Lewin can stay fit and hope we can stay out the bottom 3 come January and hope the club get their finger out and bring in some support.

Lampards right, there's a void in attacking areas. Replacing a player who directly contributed over a third of our goals last season in Richarlison with Maupay and McNeil doesn't bode well.

I was right then, and I'm afraid I'm right now.

Disagree there's a correlation there. It's just been poor across the board. For every Bolasie, there's a Klaassen, for every Delph, a Vlasic, for every Doucoure, a Tosun, for every Maupay, a Ramirez.

Have you seen him kick a ball the past 3 years?

Really?

Could do with PL players at top clubs who are on fringes of first team but rarely get a game. No idea of cost but there must be half a dozen such players. Saying this as a preference to signing someone from Timbuktoo.
