January Transfer Window 2023

The crisis will never end. You just move from crisis to crisis. I'm not saying do nothing but signing Danny Ings permanently because you need goals is not going to do anything but leave us needing another decent player shortly after. We have to break this cycle. Whatever happens after happens, we'll be better for it in a couple of years.
January survival, summer progression.

That’s the template.

Who'd have thought 20 years on we're back scratching around looking for a Kevin Campbell influence type forward to come in and give the place a lift in a relegation fight. Are there even any of those about now.
This club ?
Tammy Abraham?

A bit younger than Campbell but a few stories that he was unsettled at Roma, but I think as long as Mourinho stays there so does he.

Danjuma left / centre and Elanga right would give us the options along the front three we need. Get those two on loan and invest what we have in a creative midfielder / playmaker type and we’d be much better off.

Not the focus but I hope it saying we're looking towards it maybe at the end of the month is a sign that these are actually Thelwell's signings, aka if Lampard gets sacked we're not stuck chasing players he wanted and all that. Whatever you think of Thelwell it is imperative that he makes all the signings, the biggest issue under Brands was you'd have his signings, Moshiri's signings, Kenwright's signings and then about 5 other manager's signings on top of it. Can't build a squad that way.

Let Thelwell build a balanced squad in his opinion and have managers that suit it, worst case scenario they're crap and there's a clear blame but the most realistic scenario is that we have a cohesive squad that at least know what the plan is in terms of how we play, the formations and what's required.

So you're now saying it is a crisis and not everything is fine we'll finish 15th?

Tammy Abraham would walk into most teams in the league at the minute outside of probably City and Spurs, across Europe too. We wouldn't even be in the same universe as him at the minute, not even accounting for the fact that we couldn't afford one of his boots.

It does feel a little bit like are overestimating the calibre of player that a skint club who haven't done anything of note for 30 years and are currently in the relegation zone can attract. Anybody who comes in is going to have question marks over them, there isn't a world class attacking player in their prime out there waiting for the call from us to come and save us. Any attacking reinforcements we bring in are effectively going to be a punt, we just have to hope they're an effective one.

The difference here is I believe the players are better than they're showing and the manager is an absolute mess who kills all chance they might have to succeed.
You keep saying this, but they really aren’t.

Iwobi has looked better and been more productive than he ever has in his career the last 6 months or so.

Demairi Gray had a grand total of 19 career goals before joining Everton. 8 of these where for Birmingham, in whatever league Birmingham were in at the time.

Dwight McNeil has scored 2 goals so far for Everton. He only scored a whopping 7 goals in all of his 137 games for Burnley.

We are BAD.

Loan deal like Campbell was he could be swayed by once again teaming up with the Super Frank. It's all hypothetical of course

So you're now saying it is a crisis and not everything is fine we'll finish 15th?
If we keep Lampard or appoint Dyche/Martinez/Big Sam we aren't finishing 15th. But I believe the team as constructed is better than they're performing and a real manager can get there.

That post was just agreeing with you though because I'm not too interested in discussing how bad it is as much as the response. Whether you think we're the 15th side or the 20th side the response doesn't change for me.

I'd love for us to sack the manager and find out!
