January Transfer Window 2023

All of those clubs make more money than us, clearly. We lose £100m+ every year, our wage bill will dwarf theirs and our sponsorships are probably less lucrative than theirs. I also bet they’ve made more money from player sales than we have, because we barely make anything from that. It isn’t simply a case of comparing transfer fees out, that’s not how FFP works.

Im not, im talking net spend. West Ham, Villa, Wolves, Leeds and Forest have ALL spent more than us - Based on net spend.

Yes wages for us will be higher than some, but no way do those clubs make more than us.
Leeds & Forest have been in the Championship in that perid too...so their income will be tiny over that full period.

Southampton are about £15 mill less in NET spend than us in same period.

What are their total profits/losses compared to ours though? That’s literally all that matters. I think you’re underestimating how crap our commercial performance is thanks to our wonderful CEO.

Im still baffled as to why we cant spend any money.

FFP and the Prem spending rules is a 3 year period is it not ??

In the last 5 years our net spend is at £165 million.....in the current bottom 10 of the prem 5 teams have spent more than us in that time.

Why is it only high spending Everton that are mentioned, and why are these other clubs able to spend and we cant !?!

Im convinced we are not spending so Moshiri can sell it with better recent books, OR the money is being re-directed into the ground OR paying his loans back.

It doesn't add up to me.
Lots of players on big money sitting out their contracts. It all adds up.

We only seem to spend and not cash in on anyone.

Arnie-kin-toe-Vic! FFS! Rates himself as much as Ronaldo. Bring him into a toxic dressing-room. What could go wrong. We can hope he's our new Kevin Campbell, but will probably be our new Mark Hughes.

Yes it would seem that way.

While the media world harp on about spending on players, it seems that its the long large contracts and imamortization losses, along with stadium and our strangely high covid losses.

It doesn't go on net spend either though, it's about profit and loss on the books. So if you have player A with a book value of £0 and sell them for £5m then you chalk down a profit of £5m. If you have player B with a book value of £15m and sell them for £10m then you chalk down a loss of £5m. So in net spend terms the sale of player B looks better, but for FFP purposes the sale of player A helps significantly more.

Indeed mate, I know.

I just find the reporting of it all in the media bizare, and all bout transfer spending in/out - and all uses those figures and lists on daily.

Im sure that other clubs will soon start to be in trouble though, I think FFP are looking at West ham,Leicester and Wolves

Yet another one from the score against Everton regularly and we'll sign you on the downward slope of your career. Do our scouts just watch our first team games only and that is the extent of their network?

Basically the clubs big problem (has been for a long time) is the total lack of commercial revenue, our sponsors and sponsorship deals are just pathetic. Yes it helps that when you are playing better you attract better sponsors but even so our revenue stream is just appalling, something like 80%+ of our turnover is going to pay wages. That number needs to be a lot less, and our turnover much higher, we should be trying to get sponsorship deals for the bloody urinals if we can!! Anything we can to increase funding streams, this is where DBB has failed massively.

I really liked Arnautović when he was in the Prem.

Can he do a Kevin Campbell for us?....

Big ask at 33.
I get that we need goals in the side, I just see the links to strikers and I worry that it’s not addressing the main issue in that fundamentally we don’t create much.

If DCL is fit then I can’t see Lampard not playing him - and then we have maupay/aurnatovic just scrambling around for a 20 minute sub cameo.

I think the problems in our squad would be better solved by having two new full/wingbacks and a creative/attacking midfielder who scores goals.

Hello, I am a Rennes supporter and regarding Sulemana's playing time, I can give you some details. First, the context: Rennes has just lost until the end of the season its best striker, Martin Terrier, and since Sunday, another titular striker, Kalimuendo. You might think it's a chance for Sulemana, but he doesn't seem to be able to take it. It should be noted that Doku, the other young striker, has also played little because he gets injured very often. Sulemana had two or three good games when he arrived last season, then disappeared, either injured or a substitute. His coming into play was not convincing, he has a lot of trouble adapting to Rennes' collective game, his dribbling no longer works, he sometimes lacks game intelligence (losing the ball against Fenerbahce leads to the equalizer Turks in the Europa League), and despite the patience and advice of coach Bruno Génésio, he is not progressing. Now, in another context, another system, maybe he can better use his interviewing, dribbling and speed skills. Good luck to you.
Fair enough mate. You support them, it is probably a good indicator.

However, what I can say is:
(a) he has impressed me every time I've seen him play
(b) he has an unbelievable amount of potential
(C) he would instantly be better than anyone in our team and anyone we have been linked with apart from Ouattara
(d) if he'd been perfect for you we wouldn't even be having discussions about trying to get him as we are a terrible football team.
