Fair enough.

So you think the intensity he showed last years is evident this year, and he was a good outlet last year for creativity?

I think hes in a run of bad form mate, i can defo accept that from a 21 year old, in fact i expect it, just a year as a starter - the problem is we dont have the squad to support that, in fact we isolated him, heaped huge expectation on him and made him a fall guy by selling Richarlison, not replacing him and having limited players around him, hes played the vast majority of his Everton games without even a Centre forward. I dont see a huge lack of intensity really, i saw him chasing shadows against Wolves when others were fading and we know what happened then. I think the herd mentality against him on here and in the ground is mental and shortsighted to be honest.

Its a sad day when Evertonians turn on one we produced who is on a developmental pathway, we should be proud and hopeful of him and take joy from that, because he has talent and quality, we've done a poor job nurturing and supporting that and him to my mind, as we have for many years with younger players - and i have strong opinions on that when it comes to us.

I think its very possible he will turn his back on us and i dont think id blame him, given the mental reaction, that saddens me greatly and gives me huge pause for thought on what we have become - but wrong thread.

Gordon put the pressure on himself, wanting the number 10 shirt, saying he wants to play upfront.

He’s let himself down this year because the one thing he has done is drop off his own intensity. He wasn’t good last year, far from it, but he tried to look half arsed

Yes. It’s just ignorance to pretend this hasn’t happened.

We have to consider that he's 21.

I was a massive tit at 21.

I'm dead sound now tho...

Agree with some of that the pressure placed on him was ridiculous because I think he's a pretty good player with potential he should have been in and out not an automatic starter we were expecting to carry us. But by the same token I think the Chelsea interest turned his head. Ultimately if we get a good bid we have to accept in our position.

Ok fair enough.

I agree that he shouldn’t have been starting, 100%. And he and lampard were letdown because the majority of us knew both him and gray were not going to score or create enough goals.

But the. You look on the flip side. A lad who had 19 half decent games last season, mainly due to his defensive actions rather than his attacking options, comes back from preseason with a lot of chat about a multimillion pound move to Chelsea, then proceeds to go into the managers office and tell him that he wants the number 10 shirt and to play up front.

Those actions indicate that he is believing his own ability and his ready for the gauntlet.

To me he’s believed the hype surrounding him, he’s let himself down and Everton for a complete lack of effort. Ive never seen him get a game by the scruff of the neck and drive the team forward; even if nobody else is, he can. But he’s not that good unfortunately, he just believes he is

I could list a fair few players they’ve gotten wrong.
Like every club. However, for low fees and on low wages Brighton's failures are far less impactful than our glaring, and expensive, transfer failures. Only someone with an axe to grind with specific posters would argue that Brighton's approach to scouting and signings is somehow comparable to or worse than ours.

Well no one said that so that's a pointless comment.
