Ok fair enough.

I agree that he shouldn’t have been starting, 100%. And he and lampard were letdown because the majority of us knew both him and gray were not going to score or create enough goals.

But the. You look on the flip side. A lad who had 19 half decent games last season, mainly due to his defensive actions rather than his attacking options, comes back from preseason with a lot of chat about a multimillion pound move to Chelsea, then proceeds to go into the managers office and tell him that he wants the number 10 shirt and to play up front.

Those actions indicate that he is believing his own ability and his ready for the gauntlet.

To me he’s believed the hype surrounding him, he’s let himself down and Everton for a complete lack of effort. Ive never seen him get a game by the scruff of the neck and drive the team forward; even if nobody else is, he can. But he’s not that good unfortunately, he just believes he is

Im not sure i agree with the narrative that he walked into the managers office and asked for the no 10, how do we know this? Thats just perpetuating the mindset stereotype with a lack of facts and an example of the herd mindset against the lad. No body is going to turn down a perk or acknowledgement in work. The difficulty is - if you apply it to your own work place - you have someone a year on the job who is expected to perform like one of the most experienced people in the job, while you've sacked all the other high performers - it doesnt equate to the real world and football in no differnt - its essentially what the club did with the lad.

I hope he has faith is his own ability and i hope he confronts the gauntlet, i dont see those things as depleting, they are positive attributes and good things. There are reasons he is sellable, Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle aren't stupid they can see it and they can see how they nurture and improve it - its something we as a club have failed to do.

We have an awful tendency, to call lads developing lazy or homesick or not committed etc, we did it with Lookman, we did it with Kean and you see it now with Gordon. - that list isnt exhaustive There is an absolute trend to it and i think people would do well to reflect on it or it will continue to happen, its stupid to judge developing players because they arent playing like a 28 year old. Its one of the big problems we have in developing young players. Everyone wants to sign and develop young players but no one has any patience with them in our fan base.

Anyway there is a Young Flash thread, so if we want to unpack it more - we should prob head in there.

I think so, though he ball carries as opposed to splits a defense with a pass, but the lad can break a line. JWP destroyed us last week with a bit a vision - we could do with the like.

We've badly let down Gordon in my opinion, pressure on the lad at 21 one is ridiculous.

Another problem is Lampard, we play fanny ball to much and loose all attacking inniative, passing it slowly and lethargically from defence it takes us two mins to get over the half way line and by that stage the opposition has two bank of four set up and we arent scoring, there is no verve or surprise or lads caught behind the play - watch today at West Ham, Moyes is going to do just that and we will be nailed on the counter. I can write the script already.
Yes, it really is a problem with our play. We need a new manager, for sure.

That said, does better movement up front and out wide get the passing sped up a bit?

I think its transitions through the line mate, the midfield unit and the front unit are really poorly coached arent connected and are isolated and the tactics are awful and ineffective. I could do one my long boring posts on it - but that's the nub of it.

I'd be pleased to see the manager leave. I dont believe in him.

9 wins in 38 games.

That's not sustainable.

He doesnt have it mate, i wish he had but he doesn't, because another reboot is depleting long term and we are in the red zone so he needs to go. If there was luck or we looked to be putting in performances i could have been swayed, but we haven't and aren't and wont and he is to inflexible and that the sword hes going to die on.

I can tell you how we will loose today already, they sit back, absorb, two deep bank of four, we glacially build up play, dont score, they pick us off caught high up the pitch or someone brain farts.

Sounded to me this week that hes resigned to it and hanging in their for a miracle or compo, he knows hes gone in my opinion.

Ultimately though, he doesn't have it.

Would like to see us go for Tim Weah from Lille and Lucas Assadi would defo be worth a looking for a cheap creative midfielder

He went to WHU last season and made it a basket ball game. We'd got back on terms and he went for the winner.

Maybe - just maybe - today he senses that the pressure is on Moyes more than him and he sets up as if we were playing City again.

If we get to HT on terms in this one the tide could turn in our favour.

I know im in a bad spot, when you're trying to give me hope mate! lol

Dont see it, i dont see the competency, but hope you have the right of it, but its delaying the inevitable in my opinion and you know i genreally have paitence, time is slipping away.....

Im all over it ill have it wall to wall this afternoon, i dont get the apathy - we need to fight for everything.
