Some impressive enquiries and deals were lined up by Thelwell remember, e.g Kudus.

We got Onana in so if he can replicate that deal it would be a start.

Just hope the £35 -50mil is correct.

Lets see.
Zat, I enquired about the availability of Amanda Holden for my birthday; it means nothing.

And fyi we got Onana done after abar 2 months from our initial enquiry, we now have 6 days to get 3 and one has just LOL’d in our face

£35 million got us Maupay and McNeil.
I swear this number grows every time it’s repeated. I’ll be slaughtered again for saying this but in isolation those two were not bad signings at all, they’ve just not worked out and part of that is how they’ve been utilised.

Maupay doesn’t go from a roughly 1 in 3 striker everywhere else he’s been to a crap striker here, fair enough McNeil hasn’t been good enough and hasn’t shown much but he’s young, may still improve and the way we structured the deal we paid nothing, at the moment at least.

Lampard tried to use Maupay as a Calvert Lewin replacement, instead of an alternative, we didn’t adjust at all to playing with a striker a foot smaller than our usual one, going with this McNeil who’s used to playing with a big grock up top at Burnley had to adjust playing a system like that but with a 5ft nothing striker. It was never gonna work out if that’s how we were planning to utilise them.

£27m (the actual fees) in total for 2 players is nothing in this day and age, the problem was they were in essence seen as Richarlison and Calvert Lewin’s replacements, it’s not their fault that they were the only players brought in.

Both were bought in as squad depth signings, McNeil as third choice winger, Maupay as second choice striker. Maupay played so much because the first choice was made of cheese and McNeil played because our first choice pairing of wingers a mix of a £1.5m player and an apparent £50m player were utter crap and don’t produce.

I think Maupay’s problem is very self evident and a different manager will easily get more out of him but to those that give abuse to McNeil I’ll just ask one thing, there’s a player we’re about to sell for £50m, roughly the same age, roughly the same output, also can’t nail down a starting spot in this dreadful side.

Now if you look at Gordon and McNeil and say there’s a £35m difference between them I’ll gladly call you a liar, so with that being said considering we got McNeil for £15m with just only about £3m up front I’ll ask 2 questions,

What can you expect from a player so cheap?

Why can’t he just be seen for what he is, a squad player who was implemented badly in a bad system, instead of trying to make out like he’s the worst player in the world as like I said he’s played a part in keeping that apparent £50m player out of the team at points.

down here at saints, we’re just slowly circling the relegation drain, before quietly, limply dropping out of the division. Fair play to you guys - you’re really going out in a blaze of glory.
Honestly it’s almost entertaining once you accept you’re down :’) genuinely looking forward to more insanity tomorrow

Nice little report and the stats are impressive

Not quite. Was at Marseille already.
Oh yeah that was it! I know him and his agent REALLY angered Leeds with their shenanigans though.

A lot of sense in there that unfortunately not many accept.

He's always been a crap striker, he just played in teams that created loads of opportunities so the fact he misses loads of chances went unnoticed.

Whether we get three, we need at least three our wing options will be Gray, Mcneil and Townsend who just had a long injury and is 32. Our strikers DCL who still doesn't look fit and scored one goal and Maupay who to me is more of a number ten split striker and Simms who isn't ready. Also we only have Iwobi for creativity. Striker, winger, attacking midfielder minimum for me, a left back would be nice too. We still have loans and will have some room if Gordon is sold. Has to be done no more excuses or we go.

McNeil was a crap signing, let’s be honest.

That’s nonsense. All strikers miss chances. Did Brighton create more chances for him, yeah of course but it’s not like he was getting 10 shots on target every game. I’m not saying he’s a clinical striker, I’m not even saying he’s great, all I’m saying is we obviously didn’t play to his strengths at all, in fact we basically played to his weaknesses and were somehow shocked that it wasn’t working.

Just gone on loan to Benfica

He came through their youth system. Youre thinking of the Wolves player i think...

How much did you offer?

Agreed. If we sold both at £10mil each we'll have lost £7mil.

We could probably sell for £12mil each and be in book profit.
