We ain’t selling Onana this window.
Every window mate!

We will sell him IF we want too/need too, but jumping on this Belgian journo's word as gospel is madness

His problem is that he will do something that makes your jaw drop but then he follows it up by giving the ball away in a capacity that makes Tom Davies look good, which then leads to him getting wound up and frustrated and he starts jumping into challenges with 2 feet, and he can get very wound up at times. I'm glad it's only a loan.
Only 20 and a loan would be ace.

Think you will find it’s 20% of the profit made
£80mil - £33mil × .8
+ £33mil
= what I wrote.
= Correct.

Know they are very rare but it did occur to me a partial swap deal could be a workaround to save on the Lille sell on fee.
No as i remember the swap deal is supposed to be 'realistic' or lawyers get called in. The fee + player value attributed to the swap is also counted in the % of profit.

Don't think it's that controversial of a statement. I'd probably say Garner, Gana and Doucoure are our best choice midfield at the minute? I think we definitely need depth but that's not what I'm saying. If you look at our best XI when everyone is fit I'm not 100% sure that Onana gets into it and I think that's fair. I still think that he'll go on to be an unreal player when he's about 25 and will probably be in a title challenging side by then.
Gana is finished. Garner is q different player and complements Onana.

Why do you think its Onana linked and not the others?

He's on par with Garner, Gana is toast and should be the depth player. He's going to AFCON anyway. Still need a further depth midfielder.

Doucoure is the number 10, you put him further back and you make the squad weaker by putting him in a position he's not very good at and removing him from a position where he affects games. He shouldn't even be part of the discussion for the midfield 2, he should only be put there in an emergency.

If Onana is sold this window it means we're short on cash and he won't be replaced with a player on par with this abilities.
Thats ok as long as we go for youth and potential.

I think we need to take this report with a grain of salt.
Arsenal need a goalscorer, not more midfielders.
Unless there is silly money involved I would prefer to keep all our players at the club until the summer at least.
We are already light in midfield and if Onana is sold then we probably need to bring in two.
Thelwell did sign Onana and Garner for midfield so he doesn't have a bad record so far.
We'd only have Garner as an effective CM so we'd need 3 new players with Gana and Gomes contracts expiring.

If we offload Onana, I'd hope we're looking at Adam Wharton.
Me too.

Smith Rowe, you say?

He had a bad injury didnt he? Has he lost something? Strange Arsenal dont use him more.

I wouldn’t sell, he’s got bags of potential and is still so young.

If we do sell, it should be 100m plus.

Clearly ;)

Have to say, Assane Diao looks incredible.

I just don't get the way the fanbase dislikes certain players. Onana is a good player. Yes, he's inconsistent, but with the way we set up, we would really miss him if he goes.

He is young, hence the inconsistency, and has all the attributes to be a top player, but isn't quite there yet. However, most of our fans make out that he's crap. As far as I can tell, this is because they expect him to absolutely dominate virtually every game. The clue is, that if he was capable of doing that between the ages of 20 and 22, he would never have been playing for Everton in the first place! We all knew he was going to come here to develop and then be sold on; I don't get why people expect him to be the finished article. And, even though he isn’t, we would really miss him if he was to leave without a really good replacement - not some dross like McTominay or Brownhill etc.

Yet there are some players who seem to get a reset every time, even though they have had countless chances. E.g. Michael Keane comes back in against a truly awful Burnley side (for the 100th reinstatement of his Everton career) and loads of people think he's worth keeping around. And low and behold, our form crashes once he is reinstated. We've always had this. Loads of fans loved Saha when he was mostly awful, yet a lot of our fans undervalued Yakubu and Lukaku.

Just seems strange to me.

Thats ok as long as we go for youth and potential.

Onana is young and has potential. Younger? We're still in 17th mind you.

The only reason to sell him in this window is to generate cash. If you believe that premise, then nothing more than a loan is coming in.
