I’m not a big fan but the mins he plays shows you that we ain’t getting no one else there. Dyche rates him and probably cheap enough to work a deal out. I’d happily replace our whole midfield.

I would rather spend money on someone like Clarke etc.

Now I’m not saying Clarke in particular because I have never seen him play.

What I mean is someone young, who is playing well and has a lot of potential.

As long as you don’t spend 40m on one of them, these types of signings usually have massive potential gain and if they do t work out to be star, but still manage to become an average prem player, you usually get your money back.

Garner is a good example. He’s not set the world alight but we would easily get more than what we paid for him.

Stones, DCL and branthwaite are the ones who have been , could be or will be judge business successes if we sold them.

Even Henry , lookman, Vlasic deals were good for us.

It’s the bolasie, Gomes, siggy type deals that have sunk us.

Young players on small contracts is where we should be focusing on.

Small contracts are what allows us to sell them. Holgate could have been a success as far as business is concerned but his 70k wages are what is stopping us from offloading him .

If he was on 40k a week he would be playing somewhere else and we would have got a fee for him 5-10m

But he is destined to see out his contact and leave for free

Surely thre one from Leeds we would want would be Gray?

@Simon Buttle what do you think of Gray? Could become a RB or DM ?
He is only playing RB because they don't have one Zat, he is a midfielder really, he is ok, still think there are better players in the Championship than him though and he wouldn't be cheap as Leeds seem to want to build around him.

Fully agree but Doucoure’s goals have probably made that look worth it.
Just me some hefty vets bills last few months and to see bang average players earning 400k a month sticks in the throat a bit , however big the premier league is the clubs with these types of wages have let it get to far out of touch , just my opinion, for the money we must have paid out in the last 3 seasons in wages to be fighting relegation were definitely not getting value for money.

We won’t have the money.

Yeah i was thinking he would become a DM but didnt know about their lack of RB numbers so that explains why hes there...

Hes of course still 17 for a couple of months and while being high potential and homegrown most likely put a big number on any fee -- if Onana did move on he seems the profile of someone who could be in the England squad in 3 seasons.

Or is that too optimistic and hes mostly hyped by leeds fans?

I still think he and Wharton would be interesting as the England u20 midfield pair, to give us a long term solution.

Wharton already out of our financial league it appears…

Signing players that are not good enough is never the answer , especially when they are likely to have a small resale value.

The only way we get out of our situation is by being smart with our investments .

Like Moyes was

Bit of a difference of opinion to say Harrison isn't 'good enough'. He's first on the team sheet and has 2 goals and 3 assists so far.

Personally anyone younger and 'better' would cost more of a fee.

I think you are being very optimistic on both players tbh, Wharton still goes missing too much in games for me, Gray is clearly an adaptable player but still very young.

2 goals and 3 assists in 21 games says it all and I'm not blaming everything on him , McNeil 21 games 2 goals 5 assists

….Wharton is a talent in possession and can pick a pass but my concern is he’s physically ponderous. A bit like Gomes, he’d need runners alongside him. I’d certainly have enough concern to not be interested. Regardless, he’s out of our price range anyway.
