Unless someone leaves (which looks unlikely) then I don't see how anyone else comes in at this point..
We need to get loans in not sure what we have left number wise but our bench isn't good enough and our present wide players apart from working hard are not scoring/creating enough its only the defense at present keeping us in games, if we have to let the lad go to Lens then we need to try and make it happen

….Wharton is a talent in possession and can pick a pass but my concern is he’s physically ponderous. A bit like Gomes, he’d need runners alongside him. I’d certainly have enough concern to not be interested. Regardless, he’s out of our price range anyway.
I agree, I'm just not convinced by him, I go back to a game I watched prior to Christmas and I just remember for the first 20 mins I don't think he even touched the ball once, everything bypassed him and he looked lost. He was better in the second half but he looked like he had a lot to learn and as I have said I just think there are other CM in the Championship who are better than him.

Yeah i was thinking he would become a DM but didnt know about their lack of RB numbers so that explains why hes there...

Hes of course still 17 for a couple of months and while being high potential and homegrown most likely put a big number on any fee -- if Onana did move on he seems the profile of someone who could be in the England squad in 3 seasons.

Or is that too optimistic and hes mostly hyped by leeds fans?

I still think he and Wharton would be interesting as the England u20 midfield pair, to give us a long term solution.

Is Garner not a long term solution in centre mid??? He's 22

Thought the same when I have watched him, can pick a pass not sure he has the legs for are brand of football, we can't afford to carry him.

Signing players that are not good enough is never the answer , especially when they are likely to have a small resale value.

The only way we get out of our situation is by being smart with our investments .

Like Moyes was
Harrison at the right price is exactly the type of signing Moyes would have made!

If we had players who put chances away both would have a couple more.
Agreed but at present we dont have many options not to play either, the main 5 mid fielders have 9 goals between them not including Doucoure if you say hes a number 10 , the supply from both wide men to be honest is woeful most of the time with hit and hope balls

Dyche likes the wide men to put a shift in defensively and off the ball.

Hence why out of the 3 "wide players" Danjuma doesn't play and when Harrison was still injured, he played Garner out there.

So looking at the goal and assists metrics as a "he's not good enough" isn't what Dyche is wanting.

The ideal wise man is a Richarlison type. But look at the money spent on him over his career.

Is that you Bill
Oh don't be one of them I'm not saying this is where I want to be but its where we are theres no point ignoring reality McNeil has 7 goal or assists in just under 20 games in terms of minutes its not fantastic but its not awful either especially when you consider how we play. If we can sign someone class in this transfer window for free and they can do better then that would be brilliant but I doubt we can.
