Possibly the idea is that Gibson returns and fights for a place and Branthwaite goes on loan. Then if Gibson manages to do well, we have Holgate, Gibson and Branthwaite (on loan) as decent young defensive talent. (I think Gibson can also cover left back?)

That makes some sense, but I'll be honest, like Stones I think Braithwaite is already above that level. Keep him learning with Carlo I'd say.

Looks the part keep him next season start him off in the U23s and depending how things pan out either loan him out 2nd half of season or hopefully he might be ready for the 1st team. I don't like the 5/9 as opposed to 3/7 sub rule but it may give us opportunity to put this lad on the bench and give him minutes.
