Looking like one Brands got right in a big way. I remember sitting in a doctor's office (not something I do a lot of, usually) and being chuffed about this one.

Very difficult to find good young centrebacks, the premium we got for Stones was an example, if he’s even half as good as that post is making out then he improves our team or we can sell him for a good fee.

I’d like to see him line up with Tarkowski next season but will have to see what Dyche makes of him and whether he’s ready to knuckle down and fight for a place like Garner and Patterson did when they weren’t originally in the team.

He is one of those players where you could just see it early on. I did say the same about Godfrey though.
Happy to confess to being another member of the 'Don't vault me on Godfrey, bro' club.

This was just good business, though. Even if it goes sideways from here, it was a great bet. I don't think it will (never did, really), but he was always the kind of buy good clubs make. I think most of us wanted to see more of these under Brands, and fewer big splash signings.

hate to break it to you but Keane already signed a whopping new contract fairly recently
I think his(keane) contract runs until the 2025 so there is no need to offer him a new contract, his book value is about 5m so if we can sell for anything over that it doesn't effect the budget for buying players.
Keep Branthwaite and sell Keene all day long

Godfrey has just been unlucky with injuries and he suffered from long covid. Also various managers playing him in various positions. He could be decent centre half not great but decent if he got regular playing time and stay injury free. He just won’t get that here unfortunately.

We have done OK out of signing British prospects in recent years. Stones,DCL, even Patterson I hope. There are still the ones that never stepped up, I suppose it is the same for all teams. Like you said, we need more of these signings Onana and Patterson show we look to be trying to identify younger prospects than the previous disasterous few years signings.

He loves a tackle (walking red card imo) and haspace to spare. just not quite right in any position so far.
