I think you're all missing my point. It isn't about whether or not Nicol was right in his opinion that Lukaku wouldn't do as well at
Man Utd, it was that he formed that opinion even though he would be playing with better players.
As it turned out, his overall scoring record was pretty much the same at both clubs. And even better at Inter Milan.

I get exactly what you're saying and I agree with you on Branthwaite but Lukaku isn't a good stick to beat Nichol with because he was ultimately proved right and his career did not progress after he left us. He had a standout season with us and then never ever got anywhere near those heights again despite playing in better teams. I think United fans consider him a flop, Chelsea fans definitely do. He did well in Italy but that is quite an average league.

Totally deserves it too (if Tarky was a couple of years younger he’d be worthy too given slabhead will get picked). Good for him to be in and around the squad, but would be more than happy to see him on the very very back row of the England bench this season.
 

11 more games left for Jarrad as an Everton player. Wonder if we'll get more than about £30m for him? Obviously if he was at Liverpool his game would be about £100m as he's got at least 12-15 years left in him.
 
Quality player. Loan at PSV was brilliant for him and he just looks very good now against majority of forwards in this league. Bowen hardly had anything today and he kept Watkins very quiet in January.

Massive shame to lose him so early but that feels inevitable now to allay any more issues with FFP in future seasons.
 
He looks so obviously out of place in this side, simply lightyears above anything we have on the books. We've overrated our 40m and 60m "stars" for years. This is the real deal, John Terry/John Stones league. For once i agree this player is genuine hot property. If the shouts of 60m for Onana are serious what's this lad worth?

He will become the first 100m defender ceiling is so high there's not a player like him in the league and he's only just starting out. He's now being noticed even more so. He'll be in the next England squad adds more money to his value on top of the fact he's got a contract till 2027 this kid is going right to the top pity we aren't anywhere near that otherwise I believe he would stay

I wonder if Carlo is aware of him, in light of not having to pony up hard cash to PSG for Mbappe. They signed a knackered woodgate way back when, maybe they'd fancy the real deal so to speak.
 
At the risk of hyperbole, Branthwaite is the type of defender that could win a major title with England. Stones, I feel, always gives the opposition a chance. In the end, you need proper defenders to win these titles. Look at Italy at Euro 2020 - bang average up front, but world-class at the back. The Argies were honest at the back too at the World Cup.
