The narrative in the media seems to be that because Man Utd have over spent on garbage for years now then Everton should be reasonable with our valuation and accept a lower offer. Just shows the bias and influence some of these clubs have in getting their messages out.
A United tax! Hahahahahaha. Low balled us for Rooney. Gave us dross such as Darren Gibson nahhhh.

Man Utd are prepared to move onto other targets if Everton do not lower their price for Branthwaite. They do not want to pay a “Man Utd tax” and believe their £35m bid was not crazy. Everton will not accept bids lower than £65/70m. [@FabrizioRomano]

Look, as far as Manchester United are concerned, there is interest there in Jarrad Branthwaite. It's concrete and they're not denying that. But what they're saying is that they will not pay the sorts of figures we've seen in reports today. Everton are holding out for upwards of £70 million. Manchester United, we understand, have made an offer that's well below that figure. Now it's up to them whether they decide they want to go back in with an improved offer, or if they choose to move on to other targets. That's how things stand at the moment.

Gibson was good for a bit.
Was an amazing January window him and Jelavic.

That period was some of are best footy under Moyes including a 4-4 draw at old Trafford and the fa cup semi we should have won if it wasn't for that back pass from Distin.

I keep reading this but who? United are probably in the top 2 biggest clubs in the world and whilst they won't challenge next season, they are one of only a handful of clubs that can realistically win the league in the near future.
Man U are nowhere close to winning the league for quite a few years. They have some awful players on massive money & are going to need a major rebuild in the next few years. It is not going to be an easy prospect for the genius Sir Jim to turn that ship around. While Utd have been fading other clubs have been improving.
