Top defenders don't give the forward the chance to go down though in that situation, it was a silly mistake and he should learn from it.
I beg the question of why the ball changed direction. Reckon Branthwaite was conned. He is a top defender thus far and any attacker goes down with minimal contact regardless. look at Salah for instance. Depends how clever or good at diving the attacker is to convince the ref or Var that the contact was not minimal

His toughest game of the season and could have possibly given not just the one but 2 pens away. He didn't crumble and continued to play well. This game would have taught him more than any other. Part of his learning curve and he will probably have 1 or 2 more games that ask serious questions of him. Regardless, he possesses class
The. 1st penalty was very debatable.

all the talk of the penalty mistakes but not a mention of the incredible slide tackle he made on Edouard when he was through on goal in second half

he responded brilliantly to giving away the pen and having a difficult first half. he is proper top drawer

just got to hope there’s a reason some of the more successful clubs don’t come piling in

city have got 4 elite centre halves currently

liverpool surely wouldnt dare (though he would be perfect for them, though he’d have to play right side of defense because of van dijk’s superiority john terry complex)

arsenal have gabriel and saliba long term, and signed an expensive youngster recently

united could do with him but they may not even be in europe next year. still, it’s united

newcastle. would make sense for them tbh. him and botman would be a high level pairing

spurs. can’t say i even know who plays for them at the back. does dier still get a game?

He’s on four yellows, so he will likely be suspended for a game before Christmas, meaning Keane will be making a first team appearance.

Really hoping he can keep on 4 yellows until the Burnley away game. I feel like that's our only upcoming fixture where we could "manage" with Keane starting. A strategic yellow v Chelsea is essentially what I'm asking for!

I think Tarkowski and Branthwaite, as well as being very good players, also have very good temperaments. Branthwaite gave away a penalty and Tarkowski was involved in the mix-up with Pickford, which gifted Edouard his goal but, their heads didn't drop and they just continued to be a very confident, assured centre back pairing. They really are a very good pair.

RE Spurs. Their left sided CB is Van de Ven who has just picked up an injury.

United would make absolute sense ( for United ) but you have to hope that we are strong enough to turn such an offer down.

Sadly I can't see him being here next season.

He is very experienced.

They tried to get another Pen in the 2nd half. Ref not conned this time.
