2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Last season I would have been appalled if we had sold him. He was unbelievable.

He’s still on a level on his own and in my opinion our best CB, but he’s dipped in form, and based on his performances this season, I’d accept his departure for the right fee. 80-100m

Makes a big difference knowing it would be Jake stepping in and not Calamity Keane.

If sold - I’d prefer not too, the money has to be used wisely.

Dipped in form but you still want a world record fee for a defender.

Scary to think the level you think he was at.

I don’t think he’s worth that currently, but your factoring in paying for potential worth too, you have to try and get what you can. I’d value him to be nearer 60m.

A dip in form doesn’t mean a dip in his potential ceiling. He will be a world class CB. Arguably he’d develop in a better environment, with better players.

What do you value him at?

I think 60m is a fair price, based on different factors.

Talk of 80m+ is a bit silly IMO.

Hes a very, very, very good young player, as you say, hes also got loads of potential, I dont think hes had a dip in form personally, sure hes had a few minor moments, but so does everybody and I suspect once we secured enough points that a few players have taken their foot off the gas and are looking towards the summer.

These players have given it all for 3 years now, for mostly 38 games, I honestly dont blame them for taking their foot off.

We’d have to get the replacement absolutely correct and we’ve also got Tarkwoski probably starting to slow up in the imminent future. There’s OBrien but Keane would be gone (thankfully) and there’s no other youth prospect on the horizon at the moment

I’d prefer to keep him as long as possible and build on him and O’Brien as a first choice CB pairing to give us time to get some new CBs in. The back 5 of Pickford Mykolenko Branthwaite Tarkowski and OBrien are currently the one area of the team that has consistently worked well. We need to keep it in place next year whilst we’re making wholesale changes to the midfield and attack.

So he’s not picked for England because he plays for Everton. Hmm, weird take seeing as our keeper (which the media love to hate) is about to go level on caps with Seaman and surpass Gordon Banks!
you are partly correct in this, however the media do have an agenda against England players who don't play for the Sky 6, hence why Pickford has been slated for years playing for England and yet has never let them down.

As soon as Branthwaite goes he will be in the England team 100%

I want him to stay and think he will. But I'm no longer terrified of losing our best players because these new owners will surely ensure we get top dollar for quality players and will replace with quality as needs be.

It was when Kenwright was running the charity that we had every reason to feel horror.

I suspect these new owners will start to show our very best players why it'll be worth sticking around quite soon...

Keep.

We need to ditch the selling club mentality.

Look at Forest refusing Murillo to Chelsea and Elanga to Newcastle.

Nothing inevitable about it at all.

If the new owners have anything about them they need to build around players like Branthwaite.
Or risk losing him for nothing 🤷

If the new owners are up to much, that won't be a problem as he will want to extend.

It really is all on the new owners, this.
I mean I'm all for being positive etc but uncertain if they're going to be able to turn things round so quickly and be able to convince him of that. If not, cashing in is the best worst option.
