2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Now that we lost, I guess no really excuses for dyche not to start him at West ham. I can understand why keane was preferred based on his run in the last few weeks.

He should be the first name on the team sheet every week. It’s that simple. One of the best centre backs in the league and is only getting minutes when Dinosaur Dyche throws one of his centre backs up front in desperation.
His pace means we can press higher up the pitch and create more chances. There can be no excuse for him not starting today (or last week).

We miss him so much when he doesn't play. The 4 at the back today, and our two centre mids, have absolutely no recovery. Every time we move up the pitch we leave gaping holes in front of the back 4 because they can't move up with them.

Dyche and the players do notice this - but the response is to drag us back into shape into our own half.

Jarrad doesn't just improve us as a great defender he improves our whole shape. Absolutely criminal to leave him on the bench when fit. It doesn't really matter if you play Keane or Tarks next to him, but he must play.

The questions for dyche are. Is keane playing that well and are we defending as well as we did with branthwaite and tarkowski in the defence. I think keane is playing well compared to how he usually plays but i still dont think thats enough to keep branthwaite out the team now he is fit. Again it comes back to the managers team selections. It seems to me that the likes of young, doucoure, mcneil and this season tarkowski and keane will all be brought into the managers first eleven at the first opportunity to do so. Thjs is despite poor individual form and how it effects the team as a whole.
