If we have to sell him in order to bring in players I'd much rather keep him in January and go with what we've got. Even though don't think either is an issue if the takeover is done by then anyway

Spot on. No one in world football is paying the £70m we seemingly value him at in January. Those deals don't usually happen in winter. He'll "serve out" the rest of the season then be off in the summer quicker than you can say "Michael Keane agrees 2 year deal".
