Being an old technophobe I don't stream but have over 2000 jazz recordings.

I have every recording made ( I think! ) by Miles between 1953 and 1963.

I mostly enjoy jazz from the classic period of 1950 to 1968 , although I do have some more recent stuff ( but not avant-garde).

Tough but here's my top 5 Miles

1. Kind of Blue
2. The Complete Concert 1964
3. Sketches of Spain
4. Cookin
5. The Birth of Cool

Here's my top 5 of non Miles....

1.Now and Then - Coleman Hawkins
2. Easy Living - Paul Desmond
3. Newklear Music - Keystone Trio
4. Maiden Voyage - Herbie Hancock
5. Pacific Standard Time - John Burgess and Bill Coon.

No doubt the non Miles list will change in a few weeks!

Would love to hear everybody's top 5.

WOW! That's a massively good line-up! I always wish I saw Oscar Peterson. I was lucky enough to see Stan Getz at the Chicago Jazz fest in a great 5-day festival line-up with Sun Ra, Herbie Hancock, and Sonny Rollins. This was in 1988.
Saw Oscar at the North Sea Jazz festival.

It was very sad , he was frail and could hardly make it on stage but boy could he still play.

He died soon after. Tragic loss

Where is Bitches Brew!

I'm a big fan of electronics in jazz so I guess that's where we may differ, Jon Hassell, Alice Coltrane etc

Sorry BB or indeed any jazz rock does nothing for me.

I prefer the Miles who played lyrically with wonderful spatial awareness and empathy
Anyway chacun a son gout .

Yeah I've got a couple of those, the Islam one and something else I can't remember, both were excellent. I meant to hear the Japan one thinking about it. Any particular recommendations?
Honestly, they’re all excellent. The Japan one definitely is. The best thing about them for me is before you know it, you’ve discovered something amazing that you’ve never heard before and you’re off on a quest to find out more about them - Mitsuaki Kanno off that Japan album for instance
