Miles and Coltrane… Their early stuff was incredible!
I don’t know if had anything to do them being hooked on heroin in the younger days?
But their later stuff isn’t as impressive to me. No smack, no soul! 🫢

I also digged this version of 'Summertime':
Couldn't agree more. I have every Miles Davis recording 57-64 but nothing beyond ESP

I'm the exact opposite, mid 60's and things started to get really interesting - 'spiritual' jazz from the likes of John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler, Sun Ra, Don Cherry etc. etc.

But each to their own eh? :)
