Odd about the individual training. Would have thought the club would have monitored that. Sounds positive overall though. The form of Gomes and Davies and the fitness of Docuoure has lessened the impact of not having him and Allan.

If the club are sensible, the priority will be next season. It looks like we are being really sensible.

His build is a help and a hindrance really. He was only 23/4 when he did the injuries. Had he been 29/30 he'd have probably had no chance, but you never know Also his build, whereby he is beyond most footballers gives him a hope.

The concern would be, that if he loses even 10% of that strength, it wil greatly hamper him. His USP was really carrying the ball, alongside some impressive defensive numbers. The hope will be he can get back to similar levels for next season and he will be like a "New signing".

You’re an actual dolt, Ancelotti has said numerous times he’s at the training ground so essentially you’re calling our manager a liar
Carlos is not a liar....just very economical with the truth...of course he has been at FF to i guess report on his recovery and i am sure he is there occasionally...but its one thing being there every day of the week plus matchdays, etc...and then its another being there some days over a month period (if that)...why not show up for some of our games in the stand? Just to show that you're part of the team...

Article on him in today's Athletic.

I shant copy paste as it's behind a paywall.

Key points:

  1. His rehab trainer says he has the build of a track athlete, not a professional footballer. Certain he'll (cliche klaxon) "Come back stronger"
  2. Everton more than happy to remain cautious. The way we have coped with Allan out, coupled with him being ready to return Wednesday means we have ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO RUSH.
  3. CA “We are showing patience with him because we need to be patient with him. We don’t want to force him to be back when he is not 100 per cent.”
  4. Player would almost certainly have been involved already had it been a 'normal' situation. Individual training away from club medical staff slowed things down.
  5. A lot of the rehab has been focussed on stretches and mobility.
No rush. At all.
Dont get point 4...I know we are in the middle of a pandemic but still he is part of a bubble with the medical staff etc...why does he have to be "away"...

If is back on Merseyside, then I am sure he is there every day, he can’t travel back and forth to France. Why wouldn’t he be there using club training facilities and seeing the medical staff?

Were Allan and James at games when they had spells out injured? Was Gomes when he broke his ankle?

Why not...mate if I had his salary I could easily afford to go up and down in a private jet certainly on a weekly basis or every few days...and probably only back to report on his progress then he buggers off back to his homeland where again with his money would have access I am sure to the best rehabilitation centers in the world...

I found that point a bit strange myself.

If I were inferring it may be more that during lockdown certain options weren't available, the training ground couldn't be fully opened so delayed a bit. It may just be he was out of site out of mind.

Odd that bit. But on the whole, a positive article and positive they are writing an article about him now.

I think gomes has been...one or 2 games for sure when he came back to finish his rehabilitation at FF...Allan was shown a few weeks back joining some light training sessions with the team...

Have a feeling when he finally returns the issues will be mental rather than physical. Remember Snodin getting an England call up but then having long term hamstring injuries and was never the same player.

Surely as soon as he is injured the insurance covers his wages, or some of them at least?
I would imagine that the insurance is for end of career stuff, insurance against temporary loss through injury would be too expensive, the premiums and excess would make it not a viable option for either the club or insurance company. It would be like trying to insure a race car against damage during a race.
